Had a chance to visit this place for the first time and am happy it is in the hood!
This place reminds me a lot of Past & Co in U-Village but with more options for goods and no actual deli. They have quite a range of unique finds, easy to take home and make desserts, appetizers, entrees, soups, sandwiches, and meal kits for 4. If you're a fan of take home gourmet, or easy entertaining, plus finding unique cool food items, this is your place.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and place was very clean and organized. The sandwich we purchased was fresh, and the warm cookie we had was delicious. We sampled some meal kit chili and was really good.
There is also fresh produce available if you are in a pinch, and some really cool unique spices or foody items.
Other items available: Fresh meats, marinated meats ready to cook, frozen entrees like pot pies/mac & cheese, biscuit dough, pizza dough, spreads, wide cheese selection, crackers, cookie dough and much more. There is also a pretty large wine section.
My reason for taking a star away, prices here are really steep. The meal kits look excellent, but are really pricey at $65-$75 for 4 servings. At that price per serving ($16-$18), you might as well go out to eat and have your food prepared (compare with Blue Apron, Green Chef or Marley Spoon at $10-$12 per serving for a four person kit). The featured meal "Chili and cornbread" was delicious, but chili is pretty easy to make, and so is cornbread. What you're paying for is the convenience factor. Other notable high priced item in particular was a quart of soup ($15). That being said, it was genuinely homemade chicken soup from stock and looked delicious.
On a more positive note, this place serves a great need in Eastlake and is a very...
Read moreThe store was very clean and presentable. The staff was mostly pleasant, not necessarily helpful. At check out the staff member was quite excessive and redundant while explaining they are a cashless business to me when reached for cash. It's quite simple to just say we are a cashless business without telling me that "we're cashless, so you'll have to use a card if you want to purchase these items, yeah that's pretty much the way things are these days, the world is going tech and modern". He acted as if I had done something wrong. All of that was completely unnecessary. There was no reason to behave that way about something as simple as payment method. I had several cards on me so it wasn't a problem at all. No need raise one's voice and become agitated. Especially with a customer is spending a substantial amount of money in your store. Im on holiday and could have definitely done without this experience. This place and chain for that matter will be a hard pass for me during the rest of this holiday and next...
Read moreAmazing for what it is - a gourmet market! I'm very excited about this addition to Eastlake: produce, meats, meal-kits, specialty treats, and take-and-bake food made from their own kitchen. If you want a fun snack, tasty drink, meat/produce, or easy/delicious meal prep, this is the place to go. For a larger/cheaper selection (except for meat/produce), head to Pete's. For bread, go to grand central. For pastries, go to Eastlake coffee. For a yummy sandwich, head to the Specialty Market down the block. All that to say, I think this market perfectly rounds out our neighborhood and has found the right niche in the...
