Rude server + mid-food + auto-gratuity = not worth coming
[Update: I've been here multiple times and never had a great experience. @Sara — I wanted to give this place a chance because you all were new to the neighborhood — but my most recent visit left a lingering bad taste...
Context: I arrived, and was told that there were no tables (even though there were multiple open) and was told to sit at the bar. I sat down at the bar as directed and it took another 10+ minutes for the server to come bring a menu / check ID. When I said that I had just come from a workout class and didn't have my physical ID on me and asked to be moved to a table the server chastised me. I understand that laws are laws, but 1) the server should have asked if I was 21 and had my ID before telling me to sit at the bar, and 2) shouldn't have blamed me for just doing what he was telling me to!
I'm happy to pay auto-gratuity at restaurants, but not when the service is outright negative before I've...
Read moreMe and my friends that live in the neighborhood were so excited for the opening of a decent bar in the area that would be our go to. Unfortunately it wasn’t it, we tried to get the table inside but the only option they had was only outdoor seating (with no heating, no music, kids running around) and when we asked if we could wait to switch to indoor if anything comes up the manager told us that they encourage us to not switch tables, then i had a truffle burger that was in my opinion overpriced and so soaking in fat that i ended up feeling sick and had to puke it out in order to feel better. The drinks we had was straight up ice and a few sips of an actual drink (for about 13-16$ ea) The service was just fine, but i guess all of the restaurants are switching now to an automated 20% service charge for a bare minimum of service. So spending about 50-60$ for a burger/drink/service fee/tax seems not worthy We all agreed that we unfortunately...
Read moreThe food was very decent. I got a French dip sandwich, which was very good - however it cost $28 dollars. Now I may not be a money pincher but whoaaaa what a price for a sandwich and fries. Now if the price of the sandwich didn’t cost me my left arm and my first born child, to add insult to injury there is a 20% service charge added to every single ticket. Don’t worry though, I was warned about this when I first sat down. See, but I get it, I come from the restaurant industry, I’ve opened restaurants, been a manager and bartender for over 10 years. Adding a 20% gratuity to every ticket helps out everyone - front of the house, back of the house, etc., but let me make myself very clear, you better make super duper freaking sure that your staff is earning that 20% gratuity on every single ticket. Overall, I am just flabbergasted that I spent almost $40 on a French...
