Excellent new neighborhood spot! They've finally opened for dine in and I live close by and went to check it out. Dining room is small but cute, with a sushi bar and a handful of tables. I was eating alone but ordered a lot of food. I ordered the Nigri Omakase and several rolls, plus some additional sashimi. Everything tasted excellent, and was presented beautifully. Of particular note I loved the "Hama-peño" maki, with yellowtail and fresh jalapeños, a delicious combo I had not had before. The garnishes on the Omakase were as intricate and delicious as they were stunningly presented. Had some very interesting specials: A baked unagi and ankimo combo served on a chiso leaf that was very rich with super complimentary flavors. Not sure that I've had warmed monkfish liver like that before but it was very tasty. Tako sashimi with I believe a sugar plum and red chiso sauce garnish that was a fantastic sweet and tangy compliment to the octopus. Some albacore sashimi with a sesame and crunchy garlic topping that was just all around phenomenal. All of the nigiri was excellent, as were the other rolls I had including salmon skin, negihama, Seattle, and oshinko. Loved the inclusion of the oshinko on the menu, Additionally they have an interesting selection of craft beers from Japan in addition to the standard imported macros. I had a wonderful IPA from Kyoto brewed with yuzu citrus that was unique and refreshing. The speciality beers are a little expensive but was awesome to be able to try something I had not seen before. Staff were very pleasant and personable, ended up having a lovely conversation with them as the dining room wound down. Anyway great addition to the neighborhood, will definitely be back.

Moriyama Sushi in Seattle isn't just a restaurant to me; it's a treasure I discovered last year and it quickly became my happy place. From my very first visit, I was struck by the extraordinary quality of the sushi, a cut above anything I'd had before. What makes Moriyama truly special is Chef's talent for creating layered, nuanced flavors. Each dish is a culinary journey, far from your standard sushi fare. After numerous visits and tasting nearly everything on the menu, I can confidently say there's not a single dish that disappoints. The Ora King Salmon with Yuzu Vinaigrette is my personal favorite, and if you love a bit of heat, the Japanese Ceviche with Citrus Pepper is a must-try. The Salmon Lemon and the signature Moriyama roll are also exceptional choices. But Moriyama is more than just great food. Over time, I've gotten to know the chef, his family, his apprentice, and the staff. They're warm, caring, and genuinely passionate about serving fantastic sushi. Dining here feels like being welcomed into a family home, not just another restaurant. This small, intimate place, with its amazing team, offers an experience that's both flavorful and heartfelt. If you're looking for an authentic, intimate sushi experience in Seattle, Moriyama Sushi is the place to go. For me, it's more than a restaurant; it's a cherished part of my Seattle visits.

This place has become my go-to spot – I’ve been coming here for the past year and it hasn't missed! The selection is incredible and consistently impressive. The chef really knows their craft and sources amazing fish. Every visit, the quality is outstanding and every piece melts in your mouth. They also have a wonderful selection of beverages, including alcoholic options. What keeps me coming back is the chef’s knowledge and friendly staff. Over my many visits, they’ve gotten to know my preferences and always suggest something that blows me away. The service has been consistently excellent too and I always enjoy chatting with them! As someone who’s tried countless other sushi restaurants in Seattle over the last 7 years, I can confidently say this place never disappoints. I’ve brought friends and family here multiple times and they’re always amazed. This is simply the best sushi in the area!

Moriyama opened down the street from us a few months ago and we’ve been meaning to try it. We finally had the excuse when some friends came to town so we decided to try out their happy hour. We were seated right away with a party of 6 and had icy cold Sapporos while we waited. The server was very attentive and kind and offered us little salmon « amuse bouches » before our food came. The happy hour menu gave us plenty of traditional maki, sashimi, and nigiri to choose from and it was all fresh and beautifully prepared. The special items sounded too good to pass up so we ordered off the regular menu and WOW, I’m so glad we did. There was clearly so much care and attention paid to the special items, I want to come back and try a whole night of nigiri just from the specials menu. The atmosphere was clean and elegant with simple wooden tables and benches and dim lighting. Major props for the gender inclusive bathroom. Loved this spot and we’ll be...
