Modern Design Sofas — Local services in Seattle

Very unassuming store that is jammed full with sofa's & chairs. At first, I thought that most of the designs and colors were not right for my son & his wife. However, two sectionals caught our attention. One had a desireable contemporary design with nice fabric. The second one had a better design and the sofa was about 10 inches wider than the other one. However, the fabric was all wrong. Josh was so helpful when we told him what we were looking for in terms of design, colors, and durability. He showed us several other fabrics that ticked all the boxes for both color, texture, and durability. To our surprise, Josh showed us how we could customize the sofa with a better fabric for no increase in price. We could select the color of the wood legs and for a modest fee we could add 6 button tufting to each of the three sofa back cushions. Both the back and seat cushions were fully reversable and could be serviced at the store if anything went wrong in the future. All of this could be made for us in Los Angeles and delivered in 4 to six weeks. We looked at several chain furniture stores and another local store. Modern Design sofas had the best quality and prices compared to the other stores. We bought a high quality customized sofa with the lowest delivery cost for about what we would have paid at a higher end chain store. Their sofa didn't compare in terms of design or base...

I went here with my wife on a Sunday. We are both physicians, but that day we were tired and were in very casual clothing with our baby boy in a stroller who was in his best behavior. The salesman, was nice, but every time we wanted to actually customize a couch or add a piece, he annoyingly looked us up and down and repeated "that will cost sooo much extra, I don't know that you want that". My wife picked up on that and told me how uncomfortable she felt. Obviously, if we are at a custom sofa place we want to customize and are willing to spend. As we went further, he didn't seem to know much about the process and the inventory itself and had to repeat "I'll check with the factory". I gave him very specific dimensions and choose a color and material. He assured me I would have a quote on Monday. Here I am 7 business days later and no quote. This doesn't surprise me, he profiled me and my wife from the very beginning and never took us seriously. Just left this place. We came here on Sunday and we’re looking for a small sectional couch. Came in and nobody greeted us. After walking aimless for 10 minutes we asked a gentleman if he worked here and he said yes. Which was super strange and awkward because he had been watching us and did absolutely nothing. We asked him some questions about one piece of furniture we really liked. And oh my goodness he was the worst communicator or sales person I had ever met. His response never exceeded 3 words and after 5 q&a he let us walk around some more without engaging with us. We then waited for the lady behind the desk to help us with a quote. After 15 more minutes of waiting she eventually spoke to us. Not sure how bad my English was but for a while I was not sure she understood what I was saying. She would open her eyes really wide and repeated everything I said.

We left without purchasing anything. I felt really strange and uncomfortable and not sure what I did wrong as a customer. I felt looked down upon for a while. Would not recommend this place if you are international customers or do not...
