Tableau — Local services in Seattle

Their product doesn't make any sense from a consumer point of view. The market for data visualization is divided into two sectors, excellent visualization products from the big db providers, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, etc. and the other sector, open source, again with excellent data visualization tools such as Weave. Tableau's product is in a no-man's land of a non-open source data visualization product which is mediocre. It appears the company is nothing more than a money-making scheme hoping one of the big vendors will eventually snap them up so the founders can get their big payday but it has not happened so far and I doubt it will because the for-pay providers already offer superior products, and for consumers who wish to go the open source route there are several excellent solutions in that sector to...
