Doesn't look or sound like a restaurant from the outside but this is such a gem.
Portions are massive and delicious - plates are essentially 2 servings for $17-20, or more than enough if you're starving. Either way, plan on taking leftovers! This is one of my favorite places to eat after a long run.
I've come here a number of times and here are some of the dishes I've tried: Taco omelette: delicious. Taco meat was a little on the greasy side but that's what kind of made it tasty. Classic Benedict: my go-to. Always solid! Chicken fried steak: incredible gravy Good savory option. Mediterranean omelette: excellent combination. I love feta with eggs. Would get again. Denver omelette: eh, suggest skipping. Only had it once but was underwhelming compared to the other dishes. Pancakes: mediocre, but pancakes as an entree are almost always mediocre compared to other brunch options, imo. They're not bad here but they're just... pancakes. Better to get something else or just get a short stack on the side if you want something sweet.
Great service, and the wait after ordering is usually only around 10-15 mins for 2 people. Really quick and attentive even when busy. Overall, I highly recommend this cute and friendly neighborhood diner. The staff are so sweet and they seem to get a lot of regulars,...

I kid you not, the brunch we had at the Varsity in was hands down the best food we had while in Seattle. They had a carnitas special that was insanely good, better than mine!
Places like this make a neighborhood feel like a neighborhood.
Last but not least, our server was the kindest woman. She was just amazing. She made us feel so welcome, like family.
As a family, we come to Seattle often. Not only will we be back to the Varsity Inn, we will go out of our way to recommend it to anyone who will listen. Thanks for a great...
Read moreReally bland, boring breakfast menu, mediocre coffee, mediocre cooking, uninspired results. Just as mediocre as I remember it to be in the nineties, but more expensive. Better breakfasts abound. May be time for the Varsity owners to hang up their apron, or if not ready to retire, hire a breakfast cook with some creativity and the chops to carry it out.
At times, I am far too deferential to my dining companions, who really just need to accept my superior, culinarily trained, palate, and eat where I tell them we are...
