Update: we decided to try this place again. Knowing we were arriving pretty close to closing time, we called the place ahead of time to see if they would still make us pizza so close to closing. They were super enthusiastic and asked us to come out. We arrived thinking we would take our pizza to go, but the woman behind the counter said we could sit and stay. Because of this, my husband ordered a glass of beer and I ordered a glass of wine. We decided to sit outside on their benches since it wasn't too cold outside. Within 5 minutes, a guy walks over with our pizza in a 'to go' box and says they are closing in two minutes. The guy continues to say that someone would be out to clean the tables, but we could sit and eat until then. So, my husband and I realize we now have to gulp our drinks down since we can't carry it out with us. We were about to take a bite of our pizza and realize it had meat on it. We ordered a veggie pizza. The guy comes running back saying that it was the wrong order and hands us our pizza. He walks away saying that both pies look the same so it was an obvious mistake. We take a few bites of our pizza, it was okay. Flavors felt a bit muddled and the middle of the pie was kind of soggy. They had clearly rushed through making our pizza. 5 minutes later, the woman behind the counter comes out and starts scrubbing the benches. She basically pushes us off the table as she is cleaning. We go back inside to drop our glasses off and then leave.
We decided to give this place another try and left feeling disappointed.
Previous review (12/2017):
It's a cute little pizza place with a small, but cozy seating area. My husband and I decided to grab pizza for lunch around 1pm on a Friday afternoon. The place was completely empty and it seemed like the two women behind the counter were prepping for dinner. It took them about 10 minutes to take our order as we waited patiently for them to finish whatever they were working on. We decided to keep it simple and ordered a margherita pizza with two beers. It seemed that they were having issues with their kegs as it took 5 min to pour one glass and we had to change our order for the second glass only to get it 15 min later. Our pizza came out shortly after that. It was a cheese pizza as they ran out of basil at the last minute. They didn't really ask us if we were okay with the change, they just assumed we'd take it. The quality of pizza was not bad, but they really need to get their act together if they want to run a proper business. My hope is that they were having an off day and they are usually more...
Read moreThis location is on the corner of Sweller (South Weller for the non-locals) and Rainier Ave. There is a divider on Rainier, so keep that in mind depending on if you are traveling North or South.
This location has restaurant prices with fast-food service.
It is street parking only but there is plenty of parking along Sweller. This is outdoor seating, with a wheelchair accessible ramp, though it's pretty tight quarters in the seating area if you are in a wheelchair or a walker. Family-friendly with a good mix of families and adults in the area. Great for a casual dining experience, and it felt safe. It is self-service but we tipped per the Seattle usual.
This location is just as cool as the design on the pizza box and the name. The food was very fresh and the pizza came out thin crust with the an even grill on a 14" platform and very clean without the dripping oil. Happy Hour is 4-6p where the margarita pizza is $14 (*regularly $20) and most pizzas will set you back about $30 after tax & tip.
I did not order the pizza with the "eggs" but I would have if I had seen the chicken coop on site! The graphic on the pizza box and sign made more sense after seeing the chickens.
Midas 5-stars for the freshness and Mexican Cokes! I will try the local Tiramisu next time! I did not rate the service as it is self-serve and for the price it'd be nice to have...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I decided against Dominos pizza in an effort to support a local business and tried Humble Pie for the first time. Excited by the delicious looking pizzas on the website and glowing reviews, we were disappointed to see that the "large" Margherita Pizza we ordered had sparse ingredients, was objectively small and served cold. The pizza tasted bland, probably a result of mostly just being dough with a few sprinkles of cheese.
On top of the lousy yet expensive pizza, the employee assisting me was rude and not welcoming. I have no problem wearing a mask, but seeing that this place was outdoors and I was only there to pick up a pizza, I approached the counter without one. Instantly, I was scolded and aggressively told I would not receive service until I put one on - which I did immediately. When I asked if I could have some red pepper flakes, the same employee told me that they did not have any (ok, no problem). However, his female coworker chimed in to say that they did in fact have pepper flakes and handed them over... weird.
Overall, Humble Pie was a dissatisfying experience and we will not be returning. For the steep price paid, I would recommend going to Trader Joe's and buying a few of their frozen margherita pizzas...it will taste better, be more filling, and they have significantly...
