Knowledgeable, but a couple of things will prevent me from calling them again.
Tech was with a customer on their cell phone for about 5-10 minutes. They charge per hour, so why am I paying for someone else’s service? If I’m paying per hour, your cell phone should stay off unless it’s an emergency.
They quoted an SSD price of about $200. I showed them one on Amazon for $100 and they said “yeah that will work.” Had I not been resourceful and did my homework I’d be overcharged on parts.
After 30 minutes they updated my bios. Another 30 was spent trying to improve my internet speed. I’m connected to a cable box as there is no Ethernet cable in my basement. I ordered a WiFi adapter and got an updated router from Verizon, but my speed still has not improved beyond 150 when paying for 1 gig. Unfortunately nothing the tech did improved my speed. 30 minutes wasted.
Return visit to install my SSD I ordered from Amazon. Kept telling me to check my original box for parts. My PC is 4 years old and I didn’t have the box anymore. He couldn't do the install since he was missing a bracket.
Fed up that I played for 1.5 hours and only my bios was updated at this point I asked him how much I owe him and was prepared to return the SSD. He said he’d only charge 30 minutes today and 30 minutes to install on a return trip but he’d have to leave now as his “time was up”. He was very adamant about that and cleaned up immediately. I had to order a bracket kit from Amazon. 30 minutes wasted. Nothing was done that day.
Return trip 30 minutes, he installed the SSD.
Grand total service fee plus labor of about 2 hours took me into $250-300 for an updated bios and SSD install. I paid for all parts.
I felt taken for a ride and that whole “my time is up” comment clinched it. I’ll not be coming back.
EDIT: The tech texted me a day later and offered a partial refund in exchange for the removal of this review. He did not acknowledge or apologize for his use of his cell phone on paid time, at the very least. He seemed more concerned about how this review would effect his business. I can see why the reviews are positively inflated. A shame, prior dealings with this company were positive.
