We got into THINK within one week vs a 6 month wait with Texas Childrenâs.
I was pleased with Dr Mandavaâs thoroughness.
When my 7 year old son was getting an EEG done, we had the most pleasant woman performing the test. I believe her name was Aretha, and she was just wonderful with my son that has a mood disorder and is generally a pretty uncooperative kid. You could tell she was a kind person who loved working with kids. I specifically requested an appointment with her when my son needed to have another EEG for 65 hours.
When we arrived for the second EEG, we arrived a little early. A different technician/nurse took us back to be fitted and I could instantly feel her negative and cold personality, boarding on rude. My son also picked up on this, and he is very sensitive to dominant, negative people and he will respond in kind. The fitting did NOT go well to say the least. She took us back to speed up the appointment rather than waiting on Aretha to be available.
The experience was a terrible one. She clearly is not meant to work with neurodivergent kids. My son was very difficult with her, and she did not know how to de-escalate the situation. I let her know that he sometimes doesnât do well with people he doesnât know and that I had specifically requested an appointment with the Aretha since he did so well with her. She was very short and had no patience with us.
We waited for Aretha to be available and my son instantly perked up and cooperated to be fitted. However, when he learned that he would need to go home with the equipment on his head, he began to rage. Kicking the chair, flipped a chair over, screaming, and trying to remove it. Aretha remained encouraging with him, but went and got the other cold mannered tech. When the other tech/nurse came into the room, her only comment when coming into the room was to address me and tell me âyou realize this equipment is $80,000.â In what way was that helpful to the situation other than to stress a mother in an already very stressful situation?
My son did calm down after 10 minutes, as he typically does after having a rage attack and we left without issues. He completed the entire 65 hour study without issue.
Overall, I had a great experience with THINK and the staff. However, I donât think that the one tech/nurse we had a bad experience with should work with children, let alone neurodivergent kids that have behavioral issues. Given that this is a neurology practice, I imagine there is a larger than average percentage of patients with behavioral issues...
Read moreVisited with Dr. Pitts in the Katy office, which was 40 minutes from our home. Dr. Pitts did a great job assessing our child & was very professional. The office staff team member Alex was also very kind, compassionate, & professional. Everyone is very nice. However, their administrative process is extremely poor.
On Friday, May 14th, I was told by Dr. Pitts that she would order a repeat CBC for my child, & that Alex would call me with instructions. Alex did call, & he was pleasant and assured me that the Lab order will be sent to the lab in the Woodlands & a copy of the order will be emailed to me. My daughter was very nervous to repeat a blood draw. So after days of talking her into doing it...We arrived at the lab on Tuesday, May 18th, 2021, to find out no labs were sent & to realize I never received an email of the orders. She was ready. BUT after 1 hour of waiting, phones calls & having to be helped by the Woodlands location staff, we finally received orders, & at that point my very anxious, tired, frustrated child, had her blood drawn. Monica & Angel of the THINK Woodlands location, WERE true heroâs & angels to us. We thank them forever!
Then today, Dr. Pitts called with results at 11:25am . Let me know she will email a copy to me, this never happened. After calling at 3:02pm...it was at 3:12pm that I finally received her emailed results. After hearing from an office team member, âDr Pitts does get busy with patients.â As though that was a good excuse for me not receiving my childâs results & having to go through a 10 minute phone call between the call center & the staff, to get them 4 hours after they were promised, without any apologies.
All this to say, Iâm sure there are great people at THINK...I only hope & pray that they will improve their administrative processes to provide a better patient experience. To date this has caused our experience to be HORRIBLE. I do not recommend this place at all for this reason. Please...
Read moreUpdate: they did not work with me. Their way of âworking with meâ was saying they would hang up if I put Genedx on the line so we could sort out the issue because âitâs a HIPAA violationâ which is completely not true and proceeded to refuse to contact the company that they originally requested the results through. So sad to see the management in this office care less even based upon their response to my review.
BEWARE: Donât bother going here. They scheduled me with a PA without telling me until I showed up at the appt and I couldnât cancel because otherwise I would get charged. Fortunately Heather King was very nice. They did an EEG on my son and didnât bother telling me what it would entail; it was a very traumatic experience for my little. The lady was so rude at one point I had to tell her if she wanted to hold down my son while he kicked and screamed. They cancelled his swab test and didnât even bother notifying me, I had to find out weeks/months later from genedx when I called to check up on results. Genedx told me the dr office cancelled and the dr office says they never did and blane genedx for everything however genedx had all the proof. The dr office refuses to contact genedx and even said if I got them on the phone they would have to hang up. Doug the MA and apparently Office Manager and Director will not do anything and will throw it in your face that he is going above and beyond but the only thing he goes above and beyond on are his empty words and lies. Getting a hold of someone from the office is also impossible because they hire a third party from another country to answer phones and schedule appts. Very frustrating and in disbelief that they even have great reviews. Officially switching to...
