Two items here: First, a note to corporate. Did the person who designed the rooms and service ever actually stay in a hotel before? Yes, the rooms are very clean, nice and bright, etc. Over all, a great hotel with a shiny new look. But, it's details that detract. I'm a Titanium Elite member and have spent 135 nights in various Marriott hotels THIS year (it's June), and so I know the comfort points. You have hand towels supplied underneath the sink on a shelf. Great. Except that there is NO towel bar by the sink. Or behind it. Or anywhere. So I can dry my hands, but with the very limited counter space (and very small sink) that I have to utilize, my only option for the hand towel is to keep it lying on the counter by the sink. It doesn't hang, so it doesn't dry. So each time I wash my hands, I have to use a damp hand towel that is folded on the counter. Now, the small counter space usually has other stuff on it, if you've traveled with ladies, you know how much stuff we have, make up, curling irons, hairbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. Overall, this gives me the feeling of being very crowded and cramped. And that damp hand towel is somehow having to lie in the middle of it all. And the sink is small, so it splashes up on the counter when you are washing your hands, so I have items on the counter sitting in water. Go ahead, try to wash your hands in the sink without splashing the counter. Just put up a simple towel bar on the wall next to the sink! It's just for hand towels, you could glue it on! Next problem, minor but annoying. Love the little coffee machine in the room. Enough coffee packets for 3 cups. Good. And two coffee mates. What? I use those in one cup, and then want more, even in my first cup. Not even powdered creamer offered. So, if I want coffee creamer in each cup of coffee, I either have to go downstairs and get several coffeemates to take back to the room, or bring a supply with me? Or try to catch housekeeping when they are around. All unnecessary hassles. Just put 6 Coffeemates to go with 3 cups of coffee in the room. Another simple fix. A much bigger problem for this stay was the dryer problem in the laundry room. Great washer, thank you. And complimentary use for guests. Fantastic! That point was actually why I chose Aloft over another couple of hotels. Since the primary reason I was at the hotel for a couple of days was due to a plumbing problem at home, the two main things I needed was to be able to bathe and do laundry, while being in a quiet space where I could work. But your dryer was not operating correctly. It would only operate for 10 minutes at a time. I had to keep running back to the laundry room to restart the dryer, and I had multiple loads to do. There was no chair in the laundry room, so I couldn't bring my phone and take care of business or play games while waiting for laundry to dry. This was a major problem, as I couldn't just run back and forth to the laundry room all night and day. So, I was unable to accomplish what was of primary importance to me in my visit. I would not have chosen Aloft, but for the promise of complimentary laundry for this particular visit. I feel that some compensation in points is deserved for this inconvenience. Please keep in mind that I have spent the majority of this year staying in several Marriotts for business. I've invested over ten thousand dollars in Marriott this year alone in my stays, and well over that last year. My need for THIS visit was laundry, among other things, and that was not able to be accomplished. I must add, your staff is great, from the front desk to...
Read moreThe Aloft hotel is a great place to stay! Our stay was super fun because the entire hotel felt like the inside of an Ikea showroom! The lobby and rooms are very modern and chic. What I always consider of highest importance is that the beds and pillows were VERY comfortable (and I'm a picky guy), very fair pricing, a safe neighborhood and located very close to the Woodlands downtown (only about 10 minutes). After a storm, we had to find a hotel nearby to stay at for a couple of days. Most of the hotels located within the Woodlands are quite pricey and also do not accommodate pets/dogs. We wanted to stay close to the Woodlands and the Aloft Hotel is just 10 minutes from downtown Woodlands, so we did not have to travel far. The rooms here were approximately $105 for a single king or $129 for a double queen, plus about $15+ in tax per night per room. For pets, there was a $100 one time (nonrefundable) cleaning fee. The Aloft hotel is located in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. There are a couple of other hotels on the same block as well as an elementary school which gives you an idea of how quiet and safe it is. The rooms were a lot of fun! The rooms feel very clean, fresh and modern. The following are notes about our stay: *Bathrooms include a shower stall only (no bathtubs that I know of) and toilet, divided from the sink and rest of the room by a pocket door. PLEASE NOTE: (1) Use caution when closing the bathroom pocket door, as there is no gap between the handle and the wall. (2) There is no lighting directly over the vanity mirror. *Rooms come with a mini refrigerator (that could easily store a gallon of milk and food) and also a personal coffe maker. *Rooms are furnished with a small corner bench seats and a table. *The beds are VERY comfortable and believe that they are memory foam. The matteresses provided great support and were comfortable throughout the night. *All rooms include a large TV and also a mini Marshall© speaker that can be connected via Bluetooth to your devices. *The property has a swimming pool and a workout room, so you can stay on your fitness program if needed. *This Aloft hotel does NOT provide free continental breakfast, but, they do provide free coffee and guests can purchase onsite breakfasts, ordering from a screen menu in the lobby. The Aloft also has several additional guest amenities, including: *Bar/lounge for cocktails. *Guests computer and printer. *Pool table. *Conference room. The staff was super friendly and courteous! They proviided clarifications for any questions that we had. The cleaning staff does a great job of thoroughly cleaning the rooms and maintaining a pleasant experience. I definitely give Aloft Motel 2 big thumbs up and highly recommend staying there! We enjoyed the industrial architecture, clean rooms/facilities, the wonderful staff, the fair pricing and the ability to have pets! I confidently recommend the Aloft as a pleasant stay and with it's locality to the Woodlands, it has so much to offer...
Read moreThis is the rudest hotel I've ever been at. First let me preface by saying I lost my home and everything I own in the April Floods. I wfh and prior to coming confirmed service animals and a hardwire ethernet were available in room. When I arrive my disability is questioned, I'm asked what services do my dogs perform form me, the girl has the audacity to argue with me about both of my dogs being service animals, stating no they aren't. Like she knows better than me, then tells me that they have a 90lb combined weight limit which I again have to explain doesn't apply to service animals. Meanwhile during my stay I see 5 other dogs who well exceed the limit and I wonder if they were also accosted the way I was. I am told I must leave 60 for incidentals, it's 10.00 higher because I'm not a "normal guest" so I suppose their reasoning is those here due to fema, having lost EVERYTHING should have more money. Somehow? This hotel socks for business, there is no desk, the dinette table is no where near the ethernet port and the wifi is not password protected. So if you have to keep safe data from your employer go elsewhere. We lost power for days during the hurricane, there was no generator, this hotel didn't remove the must be refrigerated items from the area they call a snack bar and still charged full price while they were hot. When I asked for another key Megan was rude. And when my boyfriend, and co applicant for fema asked for one he was told he wasn't on the reservation, when numerous times before they walked him up or gave him a key the attitude was only after they couldn't charge my card for additional incidentals. Mind you, I have over 30 charge attempts ranging from 420, 385, 110, 10,60, 120 a mixture of odd amounts I kid you not, thirty two times. It locked my account and I was unable to eat for days, not even allowed to eat from their snack bar. Today I check my balance it's negative 125.00 bc somehow they got a charge to go thru on a locked account. So I speak to fema and they said the hotel should not be charging me a cent, not anything, and that this hotel should take up with fema any amounts they feel owed. I want my 125.00 back, I want a little basic human decency and compassion, and for the other front desk girl, who assumed my boyfriend was my son, to not tell me how hot he was. So if you feel like being demanded and insulted and unable to perform your job then this is the...
