When I called and made the reservation I was assured that the shuttle was free to guests and would drop us off and pick us back up and that the shuttle ran untill 10pm. We arrived late Friday night (concert was Saturday night, we booked 2 nights) went to the pool around noon Saturday, hot tub was cold and pool was SUPER cloudy and had a nasty film all along the bottom. When we went back to the room we noticed the signs about endless apps and a great price at the restaurant downstairs (bar and high tops only) and thought that might be nice before the concert. I went down and asked the woman working the hostess stand (who was possibly a manager?) for more details and she seemed extremely annoyed by me asking to see the app menu. Then I let her know it would be my husband and daughter with me and she rudely said "well you cant bring your kid in a swimsuit to dinner! And the tables fill up fast, but you can try to get one" I was SO confused why she would have said that, but can only figure because my daughter (who is 11 and not a small loud child) was sitting in a chair waiting for me with her back to us and all you could see was the back of her head (and her hair was wet from just getting out of the shower) I looked at her confused and assured the woman I would never take my daughter to dinner in a swimuit and walked away. Despite her attitude we decided to give the restaurant a shot. We went down at 6pm. I waited at the hostess stand while the same woman was walking around, chatting up tables, and left me standing there for at least a solid 5 mins before approaching and rudely saying "can I help you?" I said "yes, the sign says wait to be seated and I was wondering if you had a high top table available for my family" she replied "um, no? The sign is for the dinning tables and I told you the high tops fill up fast. Its first come first serve. Isn't it past 6:30 anyways?" I told her "no, it is 6:05" to which she rolled her eyes and just stared at me. I then said "sooooo should we just wait and see if a high top opens soon?" she replied "ya, you can do that" and walked off and started chatting with another table again. I sat with my daughter and waited about 3-4 minutes and saw a group who had been at a high top walk out. So we then got up and started walking towards the table they had left, she stepped away from the table she was talking to and towards me and said "yes??" (Again is a very rude tone) I pointed to the empty high top and said "we were going to go sit at that open high top since you said they are first come first serve, is that okay?" she AGAIN cut hers eyes and waved her hand that way and said "oh, well ya that's okay" I will honestly say I have NEVER felt so disrespected and had someone speak to me SO RUDE in the hospitality business! Im not sure what on Earth I did to make her speak that way to me all THREE interactions I had with her. Or if she just didnt want my daughter in there (who behaves wonderfully, has manners, and is very mature for her age. Again, she is 11 not a young 2 year old) but I do NOT think that woman is the one who should be greating guests. Then, to top it all off, we were told that they didnt have a permanent shuttle driver and could only take us to the concert and not pick us up because the service ended at 8pm (main concert started at 830pm) Even though I asked TWICE when booking and was assured it would run untill 10pm! So we ended up having to spend $100 just to get back to the hotel. The shuttle was the MAIN REASON we even chose this hotel! We would have chosen a different one had we known that. Upon boarding the shuttle there were other families showing the same frustration after being told the same thing I was! I will say the front desk people were very kind, our room was great, breakfast staff was AMAZING, dinner time servers were good, and the gentlemen driving the shuttle was nice, just very unfortunate we were given very inaccurate information upon booking. Will probably not be staying at this particular...
Read moreA modest review. The first thing I noticed when I arrived at this Crowne Plaza location was the fact that they cater to older individuals. I'm talking people from my parents and grandparents' generation. As a 24-year-old entrepreneur, businessman, professional critic, and industrialist, I found this very frustrating. I came here with my pregnant fiancé, as we are planning on starting a family somewhere in this general area or closer to Conroe.
Along with people from my generation and younger who hustle extremely hard to even be able to afford to stay a hotel, I find this extremely discriminatory and unprofessional. This doesn't stop at management, but also the service staff. The moment I approached the front desk, I attempted to get a room that would cater to my pregnant fiancés personal needs and wasn't met with the appropriate service. The next problem was the communication because I attempted to talk to management the first day, as I am also in the business of investing into hotels while reviewing them to solve their problems so Americans staying here face less issues. However, management didn't talk to me until a few days after I had booked a room. Factoring in communication is important because while I was here, not only staff but management just spoke to me as if I was a young stupid kid who didn't know what I was talking about. No, I'm a businessman and a father. My fiancé and I continued to get weird stares our whole stay and I'm unfortunately stuck here until Tuesday, due to the fact that I booked this place expecting to do business here. But that's alright, that's what their competitors across the street are for.
Now that the problems have been addressed, let's talk about the positive things about this hotel. It's clean, no bugs, staff will help you when you ask, and the elevator generally works whenever it doesn't stall. Now understand I'm not some Karen complaining because she didn't get travel insurance and now, she can't get a refund. I'm a father, a husband, a businessman. 24 years old at that. I worked extremely hard to be able to even get into the business of reviewing hotels and restaurants. My message is to people from my generation, stay here for a couple days or if you're just passing through, and when you do stay here, book through a third party like Expedia. Because I guarantee you, while this place may be clean and convenient, it will not make you feel like home. It's not easy being a young hustler, the same way it isn't easy to be an older hustler, however we pay for convenience. And we definitely don't expect to be talked down to in a condescending nature. Nor do we have to stand for it. I'll leave tips at front desk for the staff that weren't rude and helpful. God bless Texas and America. Have a...
Read moreIf I could give ZERO stars, I would. CUSTOMER SAFETY IS NOT THEIR CONCERN!!! This entire experience was one of the worst we’ve ever experienced! We travelled from Louisiana for a quick getaway for my birthday. While we were eating dinner nearby, we received a call from Brandon that our vehicle was broken into 4 minutes prior. We left in the middle of our dinner reservations to go tend to the break in. Upon arriving we saw the truck window had been completely busted out. My husband is law enforcement… his gun, holster, extra clips of ammo, and badge (and a few other minor things) had been stolen out of the truck!!! THIS WAS AT 8:20PM!!!!!! I asked Brandon if they have video surveillance & he stated we needed to do a police report (mind you police were literally there doing the report as I asked)…. I asked again — same answer. I then requested video footage from Brandon… all he could do was tell me to file a police report… I asked for the manager, he said he was the manager. It was the ODDEST interaction. When someone is in a leadership position cannot answer simple questions regarding whether or not they have surveillance video, that is a HUGE PROBLEM! Our vehicle along with 2 others (that we know of) were broken into that evening… yet Crown Plaza has ZERO concern or empathy for their customers to provide them with supporting evidence of the event. Brandon knew within 4 minutes of the break in, yet is a spineless manager when it comes to THEIR PREMISE LIABILITY! Crown Plaza use to be a place our team would reserve blocks of rooms for tournament weekends… NOT anymore! We have informed the athletic association of these safety concerns and they have decided to discontinue all business with Crown Plaza Shenandoah.
We understand vehicles had been broken into at the Home2Suites the minutes before our vehicle was broken into… Home2Suites provided those guests who were victims video surveillance without any problems!!!
Of further note: While our family was evacuated to Shenandoah from Louisiana due to Hurricane Laura, we stayed at the Home2Suite literally across the street from Crown Plaza. THIS NEVER HAPPENED THERE the entire month we...
