My in-store and online experience with Staples was tolerable at best. I ordered something online, it generated me a delivery date of when to pick it up in-store, so before I drove to Staples I called to verify that my order was really there and it, of course, wasn't there. The person I spoke with was cut and dry, I asked her about it and she told me to wait for an email to come in, and although I tried to get more information, she said "You're gonna have to wait for the email". Other than confusing me on why she couldn't have checked, it was a little irritating. According to the text message I received that evening, it didn't even mail out until that day, the day I was suppose to have picked it up at the store.../shrug.
I wasn't extremely fond of the customer service in the online order pickup area, not that the lady working there was super rude, i'd say not very professional. Still, she was busy chatting up a storm with another couple and didn't acknowledge me at all. Once she did help me, she was friendly enough, but I was standing there for a good ten minutes before that happened! Where was my apology??? Nowhere to be found!
The thing that bothered me is she didn't verify my order number or my name; I could have been anyone pointing at the shelf full of items saying, "I placed an online order, that's my stuff." I asked if she wanted to see the order number, and she said no, I was good to go. Not only did she not check, but the cashier took my word for it as well and did not verify.
I've been a little disappointed that Staples decided to downsize their store. I have been in the store a handful of times since its downsizing, but I've always left disappointed because I had to rely on "online" ordering; I needed something right away and ordering online wasn't an option for me.
As most people know, Staples is an office supply company that offers printing services and copying services. They sell obvious items like pens, pencils, paper, folders, binders, tape, glue, etc., but they also sell some office furniture, toners and ink, cleaning and food supplies, and a lot more such as tech services. But be prepared; although there are many items in-store, you may not find everything, and you still may have to order online.
This store appears well organized and clean. The grounds appear to be litter-free.
Staples location is in the Silverdale Village Shopping Center 2850 NW Bucklin Hill Rd, Silverdale, Washington. They are neighbors with Joann's Fabrics, Rite Aid, Massage Envy, Safeway, and within walking distance to Burger King, UPS, Azteca, and many smaller businesses.
Although having a large parking lot, it is pretty dated and can make parking a little painful when busy; also, it's often pretty packed, especially during the summer and...

Short story - Referring to the printing section. Most of the employee's do a great job and are very helpful. The 2 managers I've interacted with in the last year are not helpful and it feels as though they are looking for any reason to say no. My business is dependent on getting things printed, and I can't have such a wide variety of outcomes every time I go.
Long story - I've been printing DVD covers & labels at different office stores for about 5 years, and at this location for the last year. If I get a knowledgeable employee who wants to be helpful, it's always a good experience. However, too often I am challenged with someone who is not very knowledgeable, or even worse, has no interest in helping me get my job done. Last week, Friday was the last one I could take. I went in the morning when it's typically slower, a manager was working behind the desk. He was sitting at the desk and asked "what he could do for me", I told him "I need to print a few covers and labels". He said "let me save what I'm working on for another customer", then walked over and asked "what he could do for me"...First red flag. I told him "I just need to print a few covers and labels", again. He looked at my label paper and said he "can't print on it because it doesn't say if it's compatible with his printer". An understandable objection, here's my issue; 5 years ago when I started printing I learned that, and have since only bought a specific label paper that says on the cover "compatible with inkjet & laser printers" I've seen this manager many times before, but he has never interacted with me before this. Had he payed attention one of the prior approximately 30 times that I've been in , he would have known this. But more frustrating is his attitude, he made no effort whatsoever to come up with any solution. Just a no and a blank stare. So as I was on my way home to grab the box that my labels come in where it says "compatible with inkjet & laser printers", I decided to buy my own printer (from a different store obviously) and will no longer be giving any printing or other business to this location. If management has such poor customer service, it's going to be few and far between that I walk out a...
Read moreMy wife and I went into the Silverdale Staples store yesterday, Sunday, November 24th, shopping for a new smart phone. We were interested in the Samsung Galaxy s4. We had planned to look at five or six stores to check prices. The Staples store was the first in our search. We walked in and a man, later identified as James Nuss the store manager, came over to us and asked if we needed help. We said yes. He talked to us for 20 to 30 minutes answering questions and looking up our AT&T account to be sure we could upgrade. Mr. Nuss was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions quickly, accurately and with humor. We told him we were still looking and wanted to go to the AT&T store to see what they could do. He said go ahead. Well, AT&T was a disaster! The phones they had on sale for $99, they were trying to sell to us for $189. No sale! Staples had the best price! We returned to Staples, talked to Mr. Nuss again and purchased two new Samsung phones. Mr. Nuss spent over three hours with us, activating the phones; working with AT&T to get our account updated, which was not easy!; transferring data from the old phones to the new one's; teaching us the basics of the new phones; answering clearly every question we had ; and some we didn't know to ask. All of this was accomplished with a grin and a sense of humor! He was also helping his sales associates and answering other customer questions while working with us. What could have been a very unpleasant and draining experience was actually enjoyable! As a result of this experience Staples has earned our customer loyalty. I am a school teacher and when I talked about our experience today in our school staff lounge I think I sold one or two more phones. Thank you...
