6/25/2021 2019 was our last visit, but it was like going into other restaurants, it wasn't too unusual walking into Hops and Drops. Fully vaccinated people can lose the mask, as well as they were alternating groups of people coming in, who would get an actual menu or who would have to scan a QR code, we got the QR code. We were greeted, then seated and scanned away. It was a love-hate relationship; trying to look at an extensive menu on a little screen is crazy. Indeed, my eyes hurt after that, but on the other hand, the number of germs that are handed off from customer to customer all by touching a menu.....well, what can I say that most people already know, it's downright gross when you think about it!
So onward to our meals. I had the Chicken tender salad (buffalo style); the salad came with breaded chicken fingers dipped in buffalo sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese, egg, and diced tomatoes along with three small pieces of flatbread on the side. I requested extra buffalo sauce for my salad, along with some blue cheese dressing. I wish I would have noticed the "breaded" chicken fingers; I would have chosen another salad to avoid the batter, nonetheless it was aesthetically pleasing and tasted just as good as it looked. My hubby had the Triple threat crispy chicken sandwich that came with fries on the side. The sandwich itself had a chipotle mayo, cajun fried chicken breast, pepper Jack cheese topped with frizzled onions, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, bacon served on a kaiser bun. And although he did request crisper fries and did not receive them, the fries were still scrumptious, and he stated he would definitely order that sandwich again.
A couple of other items we ordered, he had a beer, and I had a mocktail; I know where's the fun in that? You can secretly judge me later. I went with our server's recommendation, mostly because she couldn't think of the names of other "mocktails" they were offering, but I figure it to be safe. And although not remembering the name of this mocktail, it had coconut juice and lime juice, with coconut sugar on the rim; it came in a very tall mug, and although not terrible tasting, all I could taste was the lime juice, and it was pretty darn sweet. Our server reminded me it was a bottomless drink and talked me into one more. Sweet drinks I usually avoid, but for whatever reason, I agreed and asked for more coconut juice in the second one; unfortunately, it didn't change the flavor much. So the bottom line is to go into it knowing you can taste more lime than coconut, and it is extremely sweet; I only drank less than half of my second mocktail. Hubby had the Hops and Drops house Lager, which is a light beer, and he ranked it as ok in taste; there were other ones he preferred, more so.
Hop's n Drops create most if not all of their sauces and dressings in-house; their blue cheese dressing is phenomenal!!!!
Overall the restaurant appeared clean, no messy floors or crumbs lying around, bathroom was average, one of the paper towel dispensers was empty, and on the vanity, there was a lot of soap from the dispenser, but nothing I would call dirty.
Our server, I am sorry I didn't catch her name; she was friendly, attentive, and seemed eager to please!
Hops n Drops is known to be good to our community in a few different ways; It's called Hops n Drops Helping Hand; a couple of things under that title is fundraising and scholarships, to name two of them. So when you dine at Hop's n Drops, you're not only supporting local jobs, but you're supporting our community as well in many ways. Thank you for that!
Parking and leaving Hops n Drops can become a little bit of a pain, there isn't an overabundance of parking spaces and you're competing with other patrons from Hops n Drops and other restaurants that are all located near each other.

Read moreReducing my review to one star. All of my previous comments still remain with these new comments: my wife and I arranged to have lunch with our son and his new girlfriend who is a bit of a picky eater. We chose this place so she could order the bland, boring food they offer there and the rest of us could just order something edible and have a couple of drinks. There were four of us. Two couples. My wife ordered a soup and salad combo, which was a small cup of french onion soup and a small Cesar salad. A positive note is she really enjoyed the fresh onion soup but barely touched the salad. She also ordered a regular standard margarita and a lemon shot. I ordered a BLTA with chips and a CUP of clam chowder. My son ordered the "triple threat" chicken sandwich (advertised as spicy, but he found bland) with french fries, and his girlfriend literally ordered a chicken fingers basket. We also ordered fried cheese sticks as an appetizer. For drinks, I ordered an Arnold Palmer and my son's girlfriend ordered a strawberry lemonade. Everyone else just had water. The waitress was very nice and came by often to check in... so the service was good. So she earned her $30 tip I guess.
Then the bill came. My son wanted to pay, but he's just a young man, so I grabbed the check. The tab was $130. $130 for two cups of soup, a salad, a BLTA with CHIPS, a chicken sandwich with fries, chicken tenders with fries, a margarita and a couple of fried cheese sticks essentially two lemonades and a shot from the bar. I'll have to say it again. $130 for boring Denny's type food. I could see my son's eyes bulge at the check. So I paid and just asked him for some cash that I will of course put into his investment account. Add a 20% tip you're now at $160 bucks for LUNCH at a local fast food type eatery. That's like some steakhouse type prices. Read my previous review about having water views. It's not worth it. The seating wasn't even that great. Cramped for four people and the table was tiny. Almost $200 to sit in a cramped booth and eat some sandwiches, soups and chicken fingers. Five YEARS later and the experience of walking into this establishment is literally IDENTICAL to the reviews below.
My last review was 5 years ago: Yeah, this is not a 4 star establishment. Solid 3 stars at best for food, decor, service, etc. You only get the view from a handful of tables.
The food here reminds me of other "gathering" places that serve American food, where nothing tastes particularly fresh and is made on a line or even made in mass and placed in a heating tray. I won't name the places but they are akin to TGI Wednesdays and Applefly's. The fries and "famous" chips were both pretty dry and bland. The chicken sandwich was supposed to be crispy, but came out soggy. The breading all slid off as soon as I picked it up.
I guess you have to ask for straws here if you get water as well, which kind of threw me off from the get go. It's never a good sign when it's indicated that the owners are either too cheap to buy straws for people who get free water or have some other goofy agenda about something as silly as straws.
I'm always a bit bummed by a place with no personality and bland food that manages to snag a building with a beautiful view. It seems to be a common thing in this area...the view seems to lull the owners into thinking they don't...
Read moreWow! When we decided to go out for dinner tonight it was because we were both exhausted, grumpy and just didn't feel like "dealing" with making the effort to cook. I almost felt bad because this was one of those nights where I didn't think anything would be satisfying and so we chose a random place we had never been before. I honestly cannot remember the last time I had such a great experience eating out. The hostess (Maddie) had the door open and was waiting with a smile while we were walking up the sidewalk...despite the pouring rain and stormy gusts of wind. She was patient and sweet to our YOUNG son who was VERY excited to be eating IN a REAL restaurant. Our server Mallory was phenomenal; she was informative, extremely personable and attentive...but not at all intrusive and she was wonderful with our son too. She paid attention to him when he talked to her and answered his questions because he was as important as the adults were (parents....you know how rare that is)! The food was FANTASTIC!!! ALL of the staff seemed to sincerely be happy to be there and seemed to enjoy what they do. I work in a local business where restaurant referrals are a multiple times a day thing.... I am super excited to have finally have found somewhere in Silverdale I can send people to KNOWING they will...
