I recently made a visit to Best Buy store #380 in Slidell, LA to trade in some electronics I no longer wanted. Prior to making my visit, I went to Best Buyās trade in website to do a valuation on the products to see what I could get for them, as I have done in the past. When I arrived to the store, the person behind the counter was unable to assist me as she was not of age to process the transaction. A young man came over to assist, however, did not know how to process the transaction as he had never done it before. Shortly after another woman, named Melissa, came over to assist. She failed to acknowledge me and immediately went to helping the young man. Additionally, her body language exuded annoyance from the moment she stepped up. While looking at one of the products I had for trade in, she stated to the young man that it would be rated as fair. I asked why would it be given that rating, to which she replied, ābecause it is scratched.ā Her response was extremely dismissive, as she proceeded to continue to transaction. Furthermore, she failed to show me where the scratches were that she allegedly found on the item that warranted a rating of fair. Soon thereafter she told me that my item would not be accepted either way because Best Buy was not accepting this item for trade in. She then tossed the item towards me, proceeded to the next item and stated it would not be accepted for trade in either because it was the same as the first item and pushed that one away as well. The entire time she made no eye contact, she was rude, dismissive, and her overall attitude was insulting. I was very put off so I told her I did not want to continue with looking at the rest of my items and bagged my things and left the store. I returned to the Best Buy trade in website to double check what I did prior to coming into the store to ensure I did not make a mistake only to discover that I had not. The items that were accessed, even if considered fair, were given a value for trade in, not that they were not accepted by Best Buy. I visited the store a few days prior to trade in another device I had and that process was the complete opposite experience. The person was friendly, made small talk and I received the exact value for the device that I expected based on the valuation I completed online prior to coming into the store. This most recent visit has been, by far, one of the worst customer service experiences I have had. I, personally, have held many positions in retail, including at Best Buy. This behavior would not have been tolerated at the location in which I worked and does represent the values of the Best Buy I once worked for. I would like to add that Sammy, the person who was unable to process the transaction due to age restrictions, was extremely nice. She was there during the transaction of my successful trade in and also briefly during the transaction of my failed trade in as she stepped off to assist another customer. I would have much rather worked with her as she was much more friendly and cheerful to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe only reason why I am giving a 4 star is because of one of the managers. She is always friendly and helpful. My rating would be a 2 if she wasn't there. The customer service is right above the 2 Super Wal-Mart's in Slidell at 11pm at night, horrible. I have had several experiences at this Best Buy that would give anyone reason to write a negative review. I am writing this review because of my latest visit. I was checking out at the main cash registers by the entrance and I saw a product on the wall, behind the registers, that I was searching for earlier. While I was shopping earlier, in the store, no employee that I spoke with knew what I was looking for so I gave up and decided to pay for the items I had. So to my excitement, I ask the person who was ringing up my items to please let me look at the item on the shelves behind him. He grabs the item and brings it back to the cash register. I go to reach for the item so I can take a closer look and he would not let me look at the item. I make a joke to my wife about how valuable these must be when I can't even read the packaging and the rep still doesn't let me check out what I am thinking about buying. Well since I couldn't look at the item up close I just decide to buy it and if I don't think I want it I will return it. Doesn't make sense to me. They would rather me buy the item and return it wasting everyone's time including an "elite rewards member" and their time also restocking the item. But what bothered me more was the reaction of the employee. He did not give me any explanation why I could not read the packaging. I guess Best Buy is trying to end up like Circuit City, Sears, JC Penny's, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Slidell store has turned itself around so significantly over the last two years running that I am absolutely above confident about shopping there. When it first opened up on Northshore BLVD it was great. Just before they closed that location it started going down hill and when it opened at the Fremeaux Mall it finally hut bottom. Over the past two years I have met great people working here with incredible attitudes and incredible knowledge about their merchandise. A friend of mine that used to work there, now works with me, asked me to please give them another chance when I mentioned that I was going to the Metairie location to buy my wife a laptop. He referred me to Austin. So, with little confidence, but because my friend was so certain I would be impressed, I visited the store and met Austin. Impressed was not the only feeling I got from him, I actually trusted this man 1,000%. I found myself speaking with the manager who also was very pleasant to speak to, unfortunately I have forgot her name. That was months ago, but he easily showed us the benefits of their tech support and the tech insurance, so we bought all of the bells and whistles and support and warranty we could. HAPPILY. Today we went in to pick up a gift for our grandson, who is turning 7, and recently learning about something we thought was stupid 25 years ago, Pokemon, but since it survived all this time, figured must have a reason. Allen was able to overload us with all the information he has retained for near 20 years. All I have to say now is, thanks Dave, thanks Austin, thanks Allen. I am happy to have met you, and very happy to...
