There was a time when me and my family loved Longhorn's. Like so many other restaurants, the quality of both the food and service has gone down since COVID. We stay on the westbank of New Orleans so it's quite the drive to Longhorn's for us, especially with the traffic. We made it there last week and had this waitress, Bailey who seemed nice at the beginning, but she quickly showed just how much she either hated her job, or just did not want to be there. None of us enjoyed our food. The pepper steak salad was awful, my husband's porterhouse had no flavor - which was a first for us in terms of steak, and it was rare, eventhough he asked that it be cooked to medium. Even bringing that steak home to season it and cook it some more did not help. Other restaurant staff brought out our food when it was ready and Bailey was missing in action. My girls had no condiments, and my husband had no steak sauce. We were finally able to ask another waitress to bring us these items after waiting for 15mins. In the process of her doing so, we saw Bailey and tried to get her attention, but it really seemed as though she was purposefully ignoring us. Finally she comes to the table after we had gotten these items from the other waitress and she asks "how is everything?" I said to her, "well, we'll really find out soon as most of us were not able to eat at all with no condiments." Her response was "oh" with a smile and she walked off. Not only was her service poor, but so was the food. That was our 5th visit to Longhorn's since COVID, and it will officially be our last. Every visit since COVID has been less than the prior. I don't know why, but yes, a major disappointment. When we take that drive to Slidell in the future, it definitely will not be of Longhorn's. There are plenty other dining options in that shopping area to choose from. Longhorn's should really consider working on improving quality in both areas. On the flip side, the food prices are okay and the atmosphere is beautiful. Other than that, Longhorn's is a hard no for me and my family in the future. I would not recommend.
Also, I would like to point out to Longhorn's, and all other restaurant establishments, that they should be educating their waitstaff on the importance of treating customers right because their tip depends on it, and that tips are NOT a requirement of service. We gave a 15% tip to Bailey which was quite generous because actually, she should have received nothing. Treat people the way you want...
Read moreMy family and I visited this restaurant on June 23rd. The food was good, but our experience took a turn for the worse when I realized I had left my credit card at the restaurant.
I called the restaurant to inform them about the situation and asked about their closing time. They informed me that they closed at 10 p.m., but I arrived at 10:08 p.m. to find that customers were still in the store and the waitress who had served us was on her way out.
I mentioned to Lexus, the waitress who had taken our payment, that I was there to pick up my credit card. However, she informed me that the doors were already locked and that I would have to come back tomorrow. Despite the fact that staff, manager, and customers were still present in the restaurant, she refused to assist me.
I asked if she could at least call the manager. She called a number but didn’t speak to anyone and claimed that she couldn’t get anyone on the phone. When ask well how would I get my card, she responded with a nonchalant attitude I don’t know what to tell you and walked away.
Frustrated, I waited until one customer was on their way out and then walked into the restaurant. While I was waiting on the inside, my husband, who was also upset about the waitress’s behavior, called the store from the car. He immediately got the manager and she gave him the same BS excuse and hung up on him.
Inside, I approached the first waitress and explained that I was there to pick up my credit card. She went to the back and returned a few minutes later, stating that the manager would be upfront. I waited for about 5-6 minutes, and when the manager finally arrived, she was walking, talking, and had my credit card in her back pocket.
I showed her my government ID. She explained she couldn’t open the door because it was locked. Despite the fact that there were still customers and staff in the restaurant, she refused to come to the door and simply hand me the card.
I questioned her about the safety concerns and why she couldn’t come to the door to ensure that no one could enter. I also pointed out that if Lexus had been attacked in the parking lot, she would have needed someone to call for help.
Overall, the experience was frustrating and left me feeling that the restaurant was trying to hold onto a government card that didn’t belong to them. All seemed...
Read moreMy party and I visited at 8:30pm on Saturday June 15, 2024. When we entered the establishment, for or five servers were huddled around chatting and laughing. I noticed several dirty tables, and the floor was a mess, depicting a very busy night which I totally understand. When asked if the table was cleared off by the host, the servers weren’t in a hurry to clear them. None of them wanted to wait on us, looking to the other as if it wasn’t their turn or job. We stood there till they cleared a table and before setting down I went to the restroom. Horrible! Nasty! Unclean! I went back to my table and realized I needed a table, not a booth. So we moved and the server told us she’d be right with us. She was extremely overworked and I looked over, same servers still gathered around laughing, not helping this server, no team work what so ever. As we sat and studied the situation, it became clear to us, dirty floors, dirty tables, filthy bathrooms, the trash overflowing into the sink, uncaring servers, one who announced she received $13.00 from a problem customer, and My party and I looked at each other and said, “Let’s get out of here!” The only one working was the server that was going to wait on us, and she actually followed us out apologizing, by the way, she needs a raise working with all those loafing workers. We left, we went to Cheddar's, and it was a completely different experience, from the moment we stepped in till we left. They knew the word, teamwork. They were just as busy, but had a much better atmosphere and definitely caring and proud employees. I won’t be back to Longhorn anytime soon, but my family and I will definitely go...
