From the moment I walked into Albasha Greek and Lebanese Café, I was met with warm hospitality. The hostess greeted me shortly after I arrived, and when I asked to look over the menu for a bit, she kindly gave me space and time to decide. Once I was ready, she let me know I could place my order with her or walk up to the bar—an option I appreciated for its flexibility. I opted for the bar to keep things simple.
I ordered the chicken shish taouk, which came with an impressively generous spread: a fresh feta salad, creamy hummus, warm pita bread, and rice pilaf. I also added a piece of baklava after learning from one of the friendly waitresses that the desserts are made in-house.
Every member of the staff I encountered had a friendly demeanor and genuine smiles—not just with customers, but with each other. The upbeat and welcoming atmosphere made the experience even more enjoyable.
As for the food? The salad was crisp and refreshing, and the warm pita and hummus were comforting and flavorful. But the real standout was the chicken shish taouk. Beautifully marinated in a reddish-orange blend of spices, the chicken was bursting with flavor. I don’t know what seasonings they used or exactly how it was prepared, but it was truly one of the best Mediterranean dishes I’ve ever had. Tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked—it was the kind of dish that lingers in your memory.
The baklava was a sweet finish—flaky, nutty, and not overly syrupy. Clearly crafted with care.
If you’re in the mood for delicious Mediterranean fare paired with genuinely kind service, Albasha is a must-visit. I’ll...
Read moreRude! Fraud! And basic Theft!
Please beware. We eat in and take out from Albasha regularly and normally can overlooked their inconsistencies and down right rude behavior. Today I order 2 sides of grilled onions for our salads. When I arrived to pick up I checked my bag and notified the staff that there was only 1 side of onions. She apologized and went on back to correct the error. I could hear loud voices then she returned with 2 containers and an odd look on her face. I decided to open the containers only to learn that the kitchen didn’t give me a 2nd side they divided the single side and placed into 2 containers. Are you serious I asked? The server could tell that it was done and I asked her to please go get the 2nd side of onions I ordered and paid for please. She hesitated and said she didn’t want to get yelled at!! Shocking!!
That is unacceptable behavior to treat their staff like that and basically commit fraud or theft towards me taking money for something they did not deliver.
If the kitchen staff is ownership that’s embarrassing and every patron needs to rethink visiting albasha in slidell ever again.
I will be reporting this incident to the appropriate state agencies and possibly federal agencies that can protect employees from this type of abuse.
I will never return! And advise my friends and family to...
Read moreBesides the food being okay, not upset with the cooks, everyone working front of house is wildly unprofessional and disrespectful. I changed the suggested tip to a lesser amount because I had gotten my order made wrong because our waitress didn't listen to our requests, she didn't give us refills or even help after a drink was spilled, we never got our bread that we had asked for, and at the end of this all after telling us we should not change her suggested amount, she then insulted us saying we probably just "don't make enough to eat out". The manager/owner came out at the start of the interaction and then said he had not heard what had happened and that we were making too big of a deal. I told him it was horrible that she insulted me and my wife in such a way and he kept saying it was just miscommunication. I'll never come back. Worst service than McDonald's. Just order doordash or don't eat...
