Idk why haven’t made a review yet because I’ve been coming here since spring of 2022 but anyway… SPA is genuinely the most welcoming community theater in the entire world, probably. The directors, Stephanie and Alyssa, care about their students so much and it truly shows on the stage. They and all the other adults don’t act like they are better than us kids just because they are older— they treat us with just as much respect as they do other adults. Also, the other kids there are just so kind and supportive. When I was not able to be in their last production despite being a part of the process for months, they still pulled me in with loving arms when I came and saw the show. If you are on the fence about coming here or sending your kid here, please come!!! You will be just as loved as I am and feel it in everything you do. And yall— when it comes to the shows no one does it better than spa. Getting to be in the audience of Hadestown was awe-inspiring. You forget that the actors aren’t professional. And apparently people think that only certain people are casted and only the best of the best get to be in shows but no; we are all just that good (lol). Almost everyone who auditions gets in. Anyway I’m done yapping. If you’re looking for a place to get your theater big...
Read moreWhat a charming space! I recently attended a children’s theatre production of Willy Wonka Jr. and it was great! Production value was fantastic, especially for a community theatre, truly impressive. The one thing I would have loved to see, to really make the experience GREAT, would be a better utilization of time: Starting over 20 minutes late is just not okay. I can see a 5 minute hold for a few stragglers, but it’s unfair to the people who got there on time to go beyond that. Additionally, there was way too much time spent asking patrons for money. I fully understand that it’s a community theatre, and it is reliant on patronage and donations to continue great productions like the one I saw. But the additional 20 minutes of intermission spent requesting donations was a little excessive. The goal could have been accomplished in a quick 5...
Read moreAs a proud auntie and audience member, I'm thrilled that such an amazing program exists for children of all ages to learn about the ins and outs of theater. It's wonderful to see age-appropriate adaptations of popular shows that the kiddos want to be a part of! The social element is really lovely, too, for both the children and the adults. Necessary, even!
The intermission speech has been edited for time: bullet points only, requests for support, and thanks to the audience. The concessions are reasonably priced. The volunteers are the lifeblood of SPA! And the raffle prizes are lovely! (All money goes right back to SPA to keep the program going for these kids!!!)
All in all, SPA is a fantastic program and I'm happy to continue to...
