Heartland Hospice — Local services in South Miami

If you’re considering hiring heartland hospice to take care of your loved one don’t do it. Heartland Hospital has been taken care of my mother and repeatedly. I have had to call the manager. His name is Fred for situations that were unbelievable the way that their CNA‘s have treated my mother. My mother is in a wheelchair but she can stand. She can be helped to the bathroom and do the bathroom on her own first of all they won’t take my mother to the bathroom. They tell her just to use the bathroom in her pull up in the bed which number one anyone knows in Home Health Care or any kind of Health Care? That’s one of the worst things you can do because it can create infection and bacteria and yes, my mother got a UTI because of it. I called Fred for several months. He insist that he’s sorry this happened. He’s trying to find better people. He’s short on Help but it consistently happens second of all most of the people where my mother lives gets her in a wheelchair take her to the shower bath her or give her a wonderful sponge bath in our wheelchair with the people from heartland hospital they bathe my mother in the bed like she’s a paraplegic who can’t move at all. They take a bucket of water. Usually it’s not even warmer hot and take a sponge and just kind of throw the water on her like she’s a dog and I have addressed with Fred on numerous occasions and he does nothing about it so if you again if you’re considering heartland hospice I would go with a different company. These are the most heartless people I have ever known and Fred gets nothing done as a manager he tells you he’s gonna do something about it he apologises but his word Does nothing. He is not accountable and I don’t know how he keeps his job as a manager managing people who do not take good care of other people his excuse for not getting my mother out of bed his staff the lady that was helping her she’s got a bad back. Will let me tell you what if you’ve got a bad back then you don’t need to be working as a hospice person my mother weighs 90 lb. She’s a tiny little woman who’s 88 years old and if you can’t get my mother out of the bed indoor wheelchair And bathe her with a sponge bath and get her dressed. She leaves my mother in the bed and pulls my mother around to get her clothes on flopping around like she’s an animal and a dog to get her dressed shame on you Heartland Hospice maybe Fred that’s the way you would treat your mother but my mother‘s not gonna be treated that way so it gives me great pleasure to fire you as a hospice company and hire a new company. You should be ashamed of yourself and I will be reporting you to Acca And everywhere I can. I will be posting about you. I don’t care what you say that your help is so professional no you’re not. You treated my mother with abuse neglect and disrespect and I’m gonna make sure I let everybody know how your people treated my mother don’t hire heartland Hospital if you loved your loved one. And Fred could tell me how his people are stellar. I’ve got witnesses that saw this so no Fred your people are not stellar. Your people are abusive. They’re not professional so you should really rethink your position as a hospice company and learn how to take better...

It is with huge regret that I feel compelled to write this detailed review outlining the reasons why I cannot, in good conscience, recommend ProMedica Hospice. My experience with this company has been nothing short of disappointing and frustrating, and extremely traumatic. They are the reason why my father’s final moments where full of pain and agony with his full mistrust in ProMedica. it is crucial to share my insights to help others make informed decisions, so you do not go through what my family and I did due to their lack of integrity and compassion.

Poor Customer Service: One of the most critical aspects of any business is its customer service. Unfortunately, ProMedica Hospice falls short in this department. I have encountered unresponsive and unhelpful customer service representatives who seemed disinterested in resolving my father’s issues during his time under hospice. This lack of attentiveness and professionalism has left me deeply dissatisfied and disgusted. Calling for hours at a time to get a hold of the physician and nurse.

Misleading Information and Promises: ProMedica Hospice makes grand claims in its marketing and promotions, promising exceptional hospice care or services. However, my experience did not align with these promises. Their services often fell short of expectations, leaving me, my family and dying father feeling misled and disappointed. I was especially disgusted when my father was begging for assistance for over three hours due to extreme pain after multiple calls for someone to immediately arrive to give him the medicine that is needed. He was left dying in pain since no one was there for over four hours with video evidence supporting this.

Lack of Transparency: Transparency is essential in fostering trust between a company and its customers. Regrettably, ProMedica Hospice lacks transparency in various aspects of its business, including patient services, promises of 24/7 nurses, and patient-focused care for the patient/family. This lack of openness raises concerns about the company's integrity.

Inadequate Service Performance: Ultimately, the most significant reason for not recommending ProMedica is the poor performance of its services and promises of 24/7 hospice care. Whether it's delivering substandard nurses or failing to meet service expectations, ProMedica consistently falls short of delivering on its promises.

Conclusion: My experiences with ProMedica have been deeply unsatisfactory, characterized by poor customer service, misleading marketing, quality control issues, hidden lies, lack of transparency, and inadequate service performance. My father died in pain and his final wishes were to make sure you all know what they did to him and my family. Truly traumatic and repulsive to have had the head physician and nurse not do a thing. Based on these significant shortcomings, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend ProMedica to anyone. Services were started for my mother 8/19/22, at first all went well with the services but as soon as services were thrown off by CNA'S not showing up, it became a nightmare to say the least! There seems to be a gap between the CNA not being able to show up and the patient/caregiver not being advised. It is beyond me to leave a bed ridden 87 year old, laying on her waste til 1:00pm. That was very scary since I'm 67 years old with health issues as well and could not do the job of the CNA. It was the most scary time for me, I felt useless and abandoned......Today again, I had the same experience. I have left messages for the powers to be, to no avail. A coordinator that obviously knew the CNA was not showing up , should have contacted me, specially knowing that I had the same experience just 3 days prior.
