WARNING: This place is NOT child-friendly. If I could give 0 stars, I would.
My wife and I were in the South Portland location with our two toddler children. While my wife was quietly looking around, and our oldest toddler was getting whiny because she was tired, The pink haired middle aged female employee was helping out another customer. At the end of their conversation, the customer thanked the woman for her knowledge, to which the employee responded: "Thank you for having good children."
I am outraged at the audacity of this comment and the unprofessionalism shown today. We will never be returning to this establishment and if this business is truly against children and is not family friendly, then it should be posted on the door to warn potential customers away instead of solely on their website.
I hope for the sake of their business, corrective action is taken. It is one thing to feel as though a child is misbehaving in public, (The girl is 3 years old, and I don't know a soul alive who doesn't get cranky when they are tired.) It is another thing entirely to blatantly put down a potential customer's children in front of another customer. This employee is clearly incapable of managing the store by herself if she cannot manage her own actions in front of...

I did notice though that a few of their specimens are labeled wrong and when I brought it up to the owner, I got a bit of attitude. I was kind about it simply stating that it happens because wholesalers often mark their stones improperly as well.
The employees themselves (with the exception of minor attitude from the owner) were very kind greeting me upon entering. I do wish that they would have been a bit more engaging telling me about their readers or classes or even offering help finding something.
Overall I will shop there again and I'm sure overtime they will improve as all...
Read moreThis place was really interesting. They sell crystals, ore, and other minerals for "healing" (if your into that). I just like shiny rocks and they certainly have a lot of those here. Would recommend if you love rocks.
One thing to note is they did have Galena ore here. Which isn't really inherently bad, Galena is useful for getting lead, and is very pretty. However lead/Galena can be pretty dangerous if not handled correctly and I didn't see any potential warnings on it there. Someone could easily buy some Galena without knowing that it is lead in a rock and not know how to properly handle it. Otherwise,...
