I’ve shopped this Dillards many times over the last decade, and it seems this store has been in a continual decline. Chairs in shoe area are worn and cracked, floors (particularly carpeted areas (all of them in shoes and women’s upstairs)) are absolutely filthy, dressing rooms are even worse somehow. You have to seek out associates to get assistance much of the time. However, I’m a pretty quiet, low maintenance shopper typically as I usually only go into Dillard’s with a particular need in mind then mosey around to other departments so not the biggest deal…. And I’m not one to make a fuss about that… An initial check in is nice so I know who’s available in the event I find something. While I don’t typically require much as a shopper, cleanliness and upkeep in a store that sells expensive mid tier designer items seems like the bare minimum. This seems more like a corporate issue than anything else because the state of this store overall is just appalling.
Service in the shoe department is really a mixed bag. Used to they would bring a few shoe options and help you get the best fit, but today was a drop the box and gone situation… they were slow today as well so I was extra surprised. I don’t expect to be treated like royalty… but a simple “how did those work for you, or are they a good fit” before walking off would be nice so I don’t have to chase them down. Aside from that he was at least friendly and went to go get the shoes when I asked. Other times I can’t get anyone to even acknowledge me, so I leave empty handed when I was ready to spend money… so I guess better than nothing. The guy today also seemed surprised that I even made a purchase tbh, but most of my non athletic shoes are purchased there…
I go out of my way to be kind and cordial with retail workers as I used to work in the space myself and never want to inconvenience anyone.
Wanted to rate 1 star, but I gave a second star because I typically have a decent experience in the makeup department, particularly at Estée Lauder and more recently Mac and Lancôme, but the overall environment and climate of the store gives run down, unsanitary, and unkept. I’ll avoid going here for a while in hopes that...
Read moreBraved the January 1 day sale! Never again. We walked in at 9:06a.m. Dillard's opened the doors at 9a.m. When we entered, people already had cardboard boxes (provided by Dillard's) filled with merchandise. One lady had a mongoose looking coat (faux mink)covering the rolling table filled with makeup palettes until her entourage returned with boxes. They loaded up every single one on the table. Fragrance boxed sets went fairly quickly. The shoe line was extremely long. The process of waiting in line to get to the checkout to see if your selected shoe is available was ridiculous. There should have been people working the line to check for the shoe(s) and also have handheld scanners (Sam's Club uses this method) to check people out quickly. Dillard's gets 5 stars because they have quality merchandise and they have great sales. Gotta get better on the New Year's Sale. Website wasn't an option for hours; that would have alleviated some of the congestion and chaos. Kudos for having police officers on deck! I managed to get a silk blouse, originally priced @$119 for only $13.99, and a few shirts for my Son. I purchased later that night online. I'm still in awe at how quickly those people had boxes full of...
Read moreBuyer beware: They have a ridiculous and rigid return policy that can make it impossible to get a refund on certain items - even if they are the ones who messed up. Dillard's does not care. I wouldn't use Dillard's for items you aren't absolutely sure you're going to use or keep. Check other 1 star reviews for similar experiences.
I bought various styles of the same item, knowing I'd only need one but unsure which one I'd use. I specifically asked if I could return the ones I didn't use, and I was told yes. Well, nope. I had to debate with the manager to finally get them to "make an exception" for... their mistake?? One item they absolutely refused to refund because it looked used, even though not by me (so, again, their mistake in selling it). I am now paying Dillard's $40 for the privilege of throwing it away for them.
Also note, I don't think the employees did anything wrong. They were just doing their jobs. This is not about an unlucky experience because a difficult employee was having a bad day - this is just terrible company policies that passes off as much risk onto the consumer as legally possible to...
