I am picky about food. If I am going to pay for a meal, then I expect a certain quality. If I sit down at a restaurant, I expect a certain level of professionalism and service. I was recommended this place by a loved one and finally decided to give it a try. The place is quaint and fairly quiet during the time I visited. The decor is minimal but I can see the vibe they were going for. The menu wasn't one that sparked enthusiasm nor excitement, however it did have a variety of items to choose from. We selected an appetizer, and two meals. The french fries were hot and the oil did not taste old or rancid, so that is a plus. They had salt on the table, which they desperately needed. The chicken quesadillas were not bad. They come with sour cream and salsa and while they do not taste authentic, I would actually recommend them if you don't care for the other menu items. The chicken leg quarters I will have to say they were undercooked and even when corrected they were not worth paying for. I would not recommend those. The junk yard dog was my favorite item and is reminiscent of the backyard bbq vibe I believe they were going for. The cole slaw was decent, but would really expect better from a BBQ establishment. The ONE area that I can compliment and rave about was the SERVICE. My waitress ISABELLA was phenomenal. She was quirky, upbeat, friendly, and helpful. She made it a point to go above and beyond in her service. She kept the drinks full, she constantly checked in on us, she was fast with bringing out the food, and even when there was a problem with the food, she responded professionally and not only corrected the problem but acted in such a way to where I feel like she is one of the greatest assets to this establishment. While the food was mediocre at best, the service more than made up for it. If you go to the One and Only BBQ in Southaven, MS, then I HIGHLY recommend asking for Isabella to be your server, she will be the one with bright sparkling smile and the...
Read moreWhat a pleasant surprise! This is the kind of down-home, relaxed, welcoming restaurant that you want to visit often and with a lot of friends! My waitress Isabella was phenomenal. That girl was honestly moving at light speed. She wasn't rushing us or pushy, but hustling to make you feel as if royalty. From the time she greeted us, to the time we left she served us. It was fairly busy while we were there, however she attended to every need before we realized it was one. She was engaging, friendly, and added personal touches that honestly you NEVER see anymore. My children absolutely adored her and she kept us laughing. Now the food was nostalgic and comforting. The meat had a next level smokiness that would rival any backyard cook. It was extremely difficult deciding on what all we would order, but Isabella stepped up there as well and answered several questions to help us order the PERFECT dinner. The serving dishes were reminiscent of the "diner era" and did evoke a dreamy feeling of wanting to spend your entire Sunday afternoon after church with your friends and family in fellowship, fun, and lots of food and possibly finish off with a root beer float. I will interject that we tried the banana pudding and it didn't disappoint. My one criticism, would be the condiments. Ya'll know you could do better. Those sauces all taste the same. I want something that has a zing, a kick, that makes my taste buds sing. It wasn't bad, but with everything else standing hands and shoulders above the competition, I wanted to give you a heads up on something that does need a little improvement. We will be back though and I can't wait to get some of my girls to come and enjoy this lovely establishment. I will definitely ask for Isabella. Did I mention that she left me the cutest, little note with my ticket that was not only thoughtful, but kind. What a...

Went in at 6pm on a Monday and the place was empty aside from a handful of people. We were seated immediately and started our order with a full size fried pickles. The pickles were thin sliced and had a seasoned cornmeal breading. They had a good flavor and weren't saturated in grease. For my meal I ordered the smoked sliced beef dinner with macaroni and cheese and sweet potato fries as my sides. The beef was OK. It didn't have a whole lot of flavor and some pieces were dry. The macaroni and cheese was OK. It was slightly watery and was really basic. The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly, but were just plain sweet potato fries. A brown sugar or caramel dipping sauce would have went well with it. My significant other ordered the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and French fries as the sides. Her sandwich was piled high with great tasting meat and slaw. The French fries were perfect and the baked beans were seriously the best I've ever had. We ordered chicken tenders with French fries for the little one. Seriously good tasting, juicy, high quality tenders. They have 3 BBQ sauces at the table: mild, hot and habanero. I loved their mild and hot sauces. Really amazing sauce with an awesome robust flavor. Their hot is just a baby step up in spice from their mild. Wasn't a huge fan of the habanero. It was somewhat hotter at the expense of flavor.
The service there was awesome. Extremely fast, extremely attentive and super nice. All in all, I wasn't the biggest fan of what I ordered, but overall the experience was a good one. Definitely better than some of the other BBQ places...
