DME Source kept telling me that I'd need a second (in house) sleep study in order for my insurance to pay for my CPAP. Admittedly, I had not been able to successfully and consistently use the machine at first, due to major surgery and issues with the mask. However, when I contacted my insurance company, I was informed (on several occasions) that a second in-house sleep study would NOT be required. Finally, a representative from my health insurance company called the DME Source while I was on hold. He spoke to several people, including the owner, Jeff. (I had spoken to the owner in August. He was going to contact my insurance company directly. I never heard anything until November! I had assumed, for months, this had been resolved. Also I was successfully using the machine, along with a different mask, for months!) The representative from my insurance company told the owner that I did not need a second sleep study, and that they WOULD pay for the CPAP without that second sleep study. Even after that, DME Source STILL insisted that I get a second sleep study. Unreal! It makes me question if they have a financial motivation for insisting on a "second in-house sleep study"! I cannot imagine any other reason why they would require this when my insurance company told them NO directly. I strongly suggest avoiding the months of stress and frustration I experienced. Take your business elsewhere. EDITED TO ADD: You can try to spin it whichever way you choose, DME Source. But MY insurance policy does NOT require a second sleep study and you were told this. And it wasn't just a "call center person" who stated this. It was several representatives over several months. The last communication involved both a representative AND his supervisor. They both reviewed my coverage and agreed with what my insurance company policy states. In fact, they are the ones who, after speaking with Jeff, suggested I no longer use your company and simply go elsewhere! Do you (or perhaps my doctor that referred me to you) have a financial interest in a sleep lab or something? Or receive a referral fee? Because I can't figure out why you would insist upon this. (Hmmm I'll have to do some research on that. I'm retired and have all the time in the world.) It's okay though, you'll have plenty of other naive customers, sadly. Read moreTo keep it as short as possible. My experience with Bianca at The DME Source was horrible and I'm trying to contact the owner Jeff as a result. Basically, through email she asked if I had any insurance other than medicaid, cause there would be an upcharge. I stated no there is no other insurance and told her which upcharge I wanted to do. 2nd email, I asked how long would it take, and can I pay for the upcharge upon pickup. She replied, yes that will be fine, just advise on your insurance. I replied that I had just answered her question, not sure what else there is to advise about. Tried calling several times to no avail. She asked me a THIRD time about the insurance and I'm confused now, as I have answered this question twice already. She literally just kept repeating the SAME thing over and over. I was fine with the upcharge so why aren't you just processing it at this point? She already had the prescription and everything. I gave her a wrong number, she brought it to my attention, I apologized and gave the correct number...she never called. Our emails continued because she kept just saying random, frivolous things that was not important, why aren't you just processing the claim, let me pay the upcharge and get this done?? She wants to now email about their hours and how I should've checked the website...huh?? You've emailed me 15 times so why am I checking a website?? You could've just told me you close at noon that day! I decided to cancel the order cause she never addressed my answers to the same question she kept asking...at all. She just would say something else and still never processed the claim. We had 25 emails amongst us with no resolution on her part! I asked her in 3 emails to just cancel and please don't send me anymore emails. Well, she kept sending me emails!!! I truly felt harrassed and super confused about her end goal. I have every email from beginning to end. Anyone with common sense can see she was the problem, not I. I've never, ever experienced anything like this when dealing with a business. They charged my insurance and then billed me what was not covered for a sleep apnea mask and seprate for headgear now i find out the mask and headgear sold together cost less then what my ins paid and a lot less then the 225.00 for the mask and 50.00 for headgear they charged me beyond what insurance already paid. The worse part is i just needed a cushion hut there rude service guy lied told me you cant just get a cusion for that mask. Well just bought a cushion from the same manufacturer works great for 54.00. Realy people between my insurance and my out of pocket over 600.00 for something i could get without insurance for 54.00 and even if i got the whole mask and headgear i can get that ase one unit for 114.00.
