Play It Again Sports — Local services in Southington

This review is actually in response to the review before mine from "Michaela Getz". I remember her interaction very well as I was in the store shopping for some preseason baseball and lacrosse equipment for my kids and as soon as Mrs Getz stated she was going to leave a bad review I had to follow the google page for this very situation.

But any ways heres what happend....Mrs Getz came in said very loudly, not sure why her and the young lady at the register were only 3ft from each other but anyways, that she wanted to return the used ski boots that she had purchased a few days prior. The young lady politely stated "okay that will be for store credit" (she stated the amount but im older and my brain cells are slowly deteriorating). Mrs Getz started to get angry and this time she got very loud as if she was yelling at the young lady behind the counter and started complaining about how the person she purchased the boots from stated that she would get credit if she had to return them. I dont know about you but if someone says credit, that 150% of the time means STORE CREDIT. Mrs Getz continued to get loud with the worker yelling at her about the policy and how it should be stated some where. Now I have been shopping at this location for my kids for YEARS and as long as I can remember their return policy is on their receipts, which Mrs Getz had in her hand to initiate the return. All in all, Mrs Getz appeared to have made a thoughtless purchase and didn't get the correct item and she was BIG MAD at the young lady behind the counter, who by the way handled the situation extremely professionally. KUDOS FOR THAT!!!! Mrs Getz needs to getz herself right back into the store and apologize for how she treated the young lady. Karen culture is played out and she should have never acted that way. Well now here is my personal review; Play it again sports has been around for what feels like 100years in Southington. Yes they have had many different employees throughout the years, but each and every time I am there, the staff they have at the time is extremely accommodating and if I have my kids with me, my kids love them. Janet, who I think is the owner, always asks how their days are if she sees them. You dont really get that any where any more. Janet does an amazing job with her staff, and her staff does an amazing job with the revolving door of customers. Working customer service can't be easy. So to each of the employees at the store, props to all of you for all your hard work and dedication. Don't let one or two karens getz you in a bad mood....

If you want disc golf or baseball stuff go somewhere else. All of their used disc are priced above retail for what they would go for brand new. The selection was vast but the prices were insane. I could get every disc in this store for half what they're selling it for at any other disc golf shop in the state. I also wanted to pick up an aluminum bat. All of them priced above $160, including ones with horrible ware. There was one with a ton of rust above the grip, scratched beyond knowing what kind of bat it was above that, they wanted $160. From the other reviews it seems they might be alright for ski and snowboard gear, but everything else is a robbery, especially considering it's almost all used. I used to go to the play it again sports near me before it closed. It was a great way to get used gear cheap, this place charges new retail prices for used...

Great customer assistance, easy shopping for an entire snowboard package for my 11yr old daughter. The owner was very helpful and provided much needed info on sizing,fitting,etc. Professional staff, flexible exchanges, like new condition equipment, and all at a fraction of the outrageous retail pricing. I found numerous boards that would have been amazing for my daughter all in great condition but the owner helped me find the perfect board! You couldn't even tell it had been used, along with bindings, a new helmet, boots,goggles,and other necessary riding accessories. Much more then I ever would have expected from a 2nd hand shop like this! Play it again is great and I will be referring friends and family as well as buying my next board for myself/wife/kids in the future.
