I would actually give it 3.5 stars if it was an option. This is a newer Aldi grocery store and the interior is very nice.
Aldi is a very small store with limited food choices and limited personnel. It's often difficult to find what you're looking for, or to find someone to help you. Even during peak hours, there's never enough registers open; lines are long.
For non-Aldi shoppers, you need a quarter to get a cart; it will be returned when you bring it back. You also need to bring bags, or be prepared to buy some there.
The produce department is pitiful and it's often hard to find the lo-cal options. You might fall in love with an item that you never see again. Way to much room is devoted to cheap home goods, instead of food; I don't need a $4.99 blanket instead of paper goods. It's very difficult to navigate. There is way too much prepared pizza.
So why the 3.5 stars? The quality of most of the foods is amazing for the low prices. There is a pretty good gluten-free assortment, again with low prices. You can also find some premade, interesting foods to try, of course they won't be around for long. I can't do all my shopping there. I go to other stores for produce, meats and general store items like paper goods. I love their quinoa, diced tomatoes with chilies and their refried beans. I'd buy them even if they cost more than other stores, but they don't. When I can get their lo fat peach ice cream, I love it; it's rare to find in stock though.
Overall, this Aldi is a good small store with limited options and fairly low prices. They definitely need to cut back on their refrigerated premade pizzas though; use that space for fruits and vegetables that need to stay cold, or even...
Read moreI'm a personal shopper and sometimes can't find something my customer ordered or have never heard of it. I shop in a great deal of different stores. Sadly, customer service is not what it was when I was younger. You could get fired if you were rude or disrespectful to a customer. If a customer couldn't find something that they were looking for, you helped them without the CLEAR AGGRAVATION THAT IS THE NORM NOW!!! It's a pleasure to find a store that the employees are so helpful and with a smile on their faces!! I had this experience in Aldi's on Queen Street in Southington this past Sunday. It wasn't just one item I needed help finding, it was 3 or 4 items I needed help finding or out of my reach!! Gary was the gentleman who helped me each time. He was CLEARLY very busy and I felt terrible bothering him again and again because he was doing his best to restock the shelves. Not once did he get aggravated or annoyed with my request for his help!! He didn't just tell me where to look, he walked me over to where each product was!! He was so patient ,professional and friendly each time. You don't see service like this anymore which is a shame. Additionally, the store was clean and organized which gets you in and out of the store very quickly!! Many thanks to you Gary for your OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I wish I could say that about ALL Audi's and other stores I shop in for my personal groceries and my customers groceries. You went above and beyond and I was so appreciative...
Read moreGreat savings and better staff you find in the larger chain stores. Fastest cashiers on the planet. Was in and to my car in under 15 minutes. Try that at any other chain supermarket. Spent 52.00 so not just a quick convince run. Great guaranty on everything in the store. Been happy with 99% of what I buy. But the few times I'm not, very easy to return and not only get back what I paid. But anything else for the price for free. Got a chicken roast that was too salty, got my 5.89 back and they took off 5.89 on the rib eye steak. Dosen't get any better. Gave up on Shoprite across the street. Poor service, long lines at the cashier and not very happy when you do a return on their own brand. Plus they have weird sales. If you don't buy the specific number of items, no discount. Plus I save over 20% over Shoprite and...
