Bull Frog Corner — Local services in Southport

This report is written by a Southport local who has spent several thousand dollars in this store over the years. We have been to this store so much that the lady that works the register knows my sons name, where he goes to school, and she says how much he looks like her grandson. We went in here one day and bought a 10 dollar toy. The lady accidentally added an extra decimal when she was punching my total into the card machine and charged 110 bucks. I didn’t notice until the next day when it hit the bank account, so I went back up there to tell her what happened. The lady straight up went totally defensive and acted like I was trying to get over on her. My family literally visits this store almost every weekend and she acted like I was some total stranger that was trying to scam her. Anyways, I didn’t get the money back and decided it would be the last time we visit this store. You would think they would be more willing to work with someone who visits the store regularly since they portray this hometown atmosphere. But when you really get down to it, this place is just a tourist trap. Just look at the price of the items in the store. They are probably double or even triple on a lot of the items. My son and I were so excited to go here, especially after seeing all the lovely pictures. The store looks so much like the photos (even the ones from 5 years ago). There’s so much to look at. Prices are fairly reasonable in my opinion. The candy selection was HUGE! Lots of stuffed animals and the wind chimes sound so pretty. The kind woman who was working was so sweet and polite. She was very welcoming and happily answered our questions about the jelly belly beans. She even made sure to let us know that the slingshot had had ammo near it that could go with it if we wanted. This is an overpriced store. Also, I didn't like the fact that they don't let you see the scale when THEY weigh your bulk candy. The scale was behind the counter where you couldn't see if the price they gave you reflected the weight of the candy. They just gave you a price and, you could decide if you want it or not I know but, at least let me see the scaled weight. I don't recommend this place and I won't be back there. The lady behind the counter was rude. I was trying to find out a price because most things are without prices on them. That's shady. And you have to hold onto yourself because there's hardly any...
