Went in today and headed straight for the shoe area. At that point in time, my wife and I were the only two in the shoe area and we got zero customer service from the woman who was standing 4 feet away from us. We had several questions, so we gave her a few minutes thinking she'd approach us being that there was no one around. I made it a point to stand near her counter with the display shoe in my hand and eyed her down. She quickly looked my way and then turning her head, ignoring me to head in the other direction to help a woman who came in after my wife and I. We were put off by this but we decided to give her one more chance by waiting until she was done helping the woman that clearly had come in after us. Nope....she then passed us walking back and forth 4 times not speaking a word or looking at us even though she clearly knew we were there and had questions. Not even a "give me one second and I'll be right with you" NOTHING. This whole ordeal went on for 20 minutes. Older blonde woman with glasses working in shoes.... That's not how customer service works, and that's exactly how you lose sales. I worked in retail and a call center and my wife was also an assistant manager of a retail store. We've never been so disgusted with such cold service. Trust myself and others who've mentioned the bad customer service in posts below. We've decided to buy our Chaco's somewhere else and we'll never...
Read moreI was in the store on Fathers Day, June 21st. I have lived in Southport since 2006 and love this little seaside town. I have been in Ocean Outfitters several times. When I was in there yesterday only one customer in the store, outside of myself had on a mask. The residents of Southport always support the local businesses and are happy to do so. In the face of the pandemic which we are now in Phase 2 the store did not require masks to be worn. Even the two lady cashieEs did not have a mask on. We are in the middle of tourist season here with so many more people. When you do not wear a mask and keep social distance YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM AND NO THE SOLUTION. I mentioned this to the cashiers and said I would be writing a review. My guess is they do not care if we go back to Phase 1 with all the stores closed. I for one will not go in again. It is not the merchandise it is the lack of protection for the patrons and the staff.
Mayor Hatem stated an emergency proclamation today effective at 5:00 that masks are mandatory! Thank you...
Read moreWe are local and used to love shopping with Ocean Outfitters. Our recent experiences have not been consistent with past experiences. This week was possibly the last time we will visit. Our experiences over the months have been less and less positive. This week we wanted to try on shoes and could not find anyone to help. I went to the register and asked for help. Eventually that employee found an associate to help. He brought us the wrong shoe, and then as he put the rest of lunch in his mouth said to just let him know if we needed more help. He proceeded to disappear into the stock room. No employees were wearing masks, and many customers followed suit. This store seems to be soley focused on one time tourist traffic. We are so...
