This deli definitely has a wonderfully warm and cozy atmosphere, like coming to a family members' home for a meal. The staff was very friendly and our order came out very promptly. I, myself, had ordered the vanilla iced coffee (normal flavoring, not the sugar free) along with the 'sweet daddy' sandwich which was a wonderfully savory chicken salad accompanied by crisp pieces of celery, generous pieces of walnut, and cranberries that added the perfect touch of sweetness, all on a pretzel bun. Normally pretzel buns are very chewy, and hard to bite into, but this wasn't the case with Moore Street Deli as they seemed very fresh. Normally I have to add some sort of creamer to my coffee to offset the incredible bitterness of some roasts, but the particular roast they used merited none. It had a wonderful strong, slightly bitter but wonderfully sweet, coffee taste and went down very smoothly. I also had a bite of my partner's 'Gobbler' sandwich (which he orders just turkey and bacon). I'm sure with all of the accompanying dressings such as tomatoes and lettuce, that sandwich would have been amazing, but even with simply the meat and the plain bagel bun, it was absolutely wonderful. It was actual carved turkey pieces, and not the pressed turkey lunch meat, with bacon that tasted freshly made on the skillet on a Sunday morning at Grandma's house. I gave into temptation and also purchased a brownie from their register, and was glad I did. I enjoy brownies with a rich fudgey, chocolate taste, and wasn't disappointed, as it was just so. Not too sweet, as to make you stop halfway through (though I'll admit, I saved half to have later at home as a treat. It was that good). The price was very fair as we purchased two sandwiches, drinks, chips and the brownie and it only just tipped over $20. We immensely enjoyed our meal at this place, and will absolutely be back to try out their other sandwiches. This is a MUST TRY for anyone visiting Southport, or any locals who have not...
Read moreAs newbies to Southport, my husband and I discovered this place by accident! It was the best accident we ever had! Although small and a little cramped, the quaintness of Moore Street Market makes up for it! The staff are ALWAYS super friendly, the food is ALWAYS super fresh, and of course - delicious. I have never had a bad meal from Moore Street Market in the four years I have been dining here. We love the breakfast Reuben!
Also to the man from NJ, who apparently didn't get his coffee fast enough - Dude! Give me a break! Folks come to Southport to slow it down a bit, relax, and take in the salt air and sights. I, too, agree that if you can't at least take a chill pill while in Southport, you should probably just stay in NJ. Besides, who DOESN'T want fast, impersonal coffee served without a smile? (Said no one ever...) Next time, while the coffee is brewing, take a moment to stop and smell the roses. It will surely make your wait a little more tolerable, and it might even ease the pain of that stick...
Read moreOne of the best places to get fresh food. I spent Memorial wkend with family in Southport & a couple of restaurant disappointed. So while walking about we stopped into Moore Street Market and we ordered sandwiches which come with a bag of chips or piece of fruit. We both ordered the Hipster which was vegetarian, Hummus and spinach. We each ordered different wraps. There was plain, red pepper, and cucumber. I also ordered a fresh lemonade with a great slab of lemon which I added to my water bottle for the rest of the walk about.
We sat inside, which is a typical small eatery place, rather cramped, but it was fine, clean, and colorful. The food was so fresh and tasty and all the staff was so friendly. I was using my wheelchair and they showed me where a ramp at the side was, to make entering easier. Very nice place! Thanks Moore...
