B Side Games — Local services in Spokane

I recently bought a Yu-Gi-Oh! Blue-Eyes Structure Deck from this store, expecting the newer version that just came out. The deck was displayed right up front in a large stack, with signage that simply said “Blue-Eyes Structure Deck”—no indication it was an older version. Naturally, I assumed it was the latest one, especially given the prominent display.

When I opened the outer box at home and realized it was the older version, I returned to the store. The owner refused any kind of refund or exchange and told me, “Well, you didn’t specifically ask for the new one,” as if customers are supposed to memorize exact product names and release history.

I understand it’s common policy for shops not to accept returns on opened card products—but I wasn’t even offered a trade-in, store credit, or any kind of compromise. And to be clear, only the box was opened; the cards inside are still sealed in the original plastic wrapping, meaning this could easily be resold by the shop at a discounted price.

I usually support local game stores over buying online, but this experience was disappointing. Clearer labeling and a more reasonable approach to customer service would go a long way. This only makes me want to shop online for my...

We LOVE BSide games! As avid gamers/geeks/nerds we can honestly say this is the BEST game store in the whole city. Not because of its size or the number of employees it has, its inventory (which is always changing and growing), its prices, or even its loyalty program. It's because of the people and the atmosphere. Mike and Ryan have hearts of gold and they love every soul that enters the store. It's the only game store that welcomes veterans and holds them in the highest respect. It's bright and open and inviting and there is ALWAYS something going on, games to be played, fun to be had for all and all ages. Mommies with their infants in their laps playing strategy games. Kids roleplaying and using their imaginations, newbies being taught new games by the owner, or our favorite, a montage of veterans, misfits, geeks, nerds, male, female, big and small, all gathered around playing a colorful session of DnD. So much fun and many laughs to be had at BSide Games. You'll visit once and you'll keep coming back because you won't find anywhere else that feels more like...

To whom it may concern,

Be pleasantly surprised when you enter this location! Small footprint, large personality! These guys carry what they know and they know what they carry. They gave tips, pointers and even basic instructions on games and aspect I've never seen, and I consider myself a connoisseur of sorts.

Highly recommend this place to locals and travelers.
