I ordered a birthday cake for my employer a week in advance and paid for it in advance. I requested it be delivered on Tuesday, the day of the birthday. Our office is closed on the weekends and on Mondays. On Sunday, someone named Lisa from Nothing But Bundt Cakes left a voice mail at my office that said they would not be delivering the cake on Tuesday as I had requested because they were going to be closed. She said they could deliver it Monday or Thursday. Monday wasn't an option because we were closed, and Thursday was two days past the birthday celebration. I didn't get this message until Tuesday--the day I needed the cake! I tried calling Nothing But Bundt Cakes, but no one answered.
Over the next hour I scrambled to find a bakery that could make me an emergency birthday cake for the lunch hour. I was able to find one who kindly took my special order, despite the late notice.
About 11:00 that same morning, a woman walked cheerfully into our office, decorated bundt cake in hand. I was astounded. My mind went immediately to the kind people at the other bakery who had just gone out of their way to make an obligation to have my cake done when we needed it done. Without grief. I told the woman that Lisa had told me via voice mail that we would not be getting our cake. I wanted to know why no one had told me earlier, when I had ordered the cake a week earlier and there were two full office days we were open before the weekend when someone could have called me. It Her reply was because they had not known until the weekend that they weren't going to be open on Tuesday. I couldn't help but wonder if they had other customers besides me that had been jilted. And I also had to ask how this woman had ended up delivering me a cake that I wasn't supposed to be getting. She told me that she had just seen the order, went to the store and grabbed the cake to deliver it. While I thanked her for going out of her way to deliver the cake, it would have been nice had someone communicated to ME that we were still going to be getting the cake. As it was, I wasn't about to pay for two birthday cakes when I only needed one and by this time, would prefer to pay the bakery that was going out of their way to help me out. I told the delivery girl to take the cake back to the bakery and refund me my money. Today is just the day after they were supposed to deliver the cake but as of today, I have yet to be refunded. While we honestly loved the flavor and crumb of these cakes, we will never order...

Read moreI live within walking distance of Nothing Bundt Cakes. It is a little bit expensive, but the cakes have always been fresh, and the ones I have purchased pleased the people who received them. If money wasn't so tight right now I would have bought several for my friends and family for the holidays. I just can't afford their prices right now. I especially like the little bundts, the personal sized ones. That way, instead of buying a large cake that only a few people like. I can buy individual cakes for each person's taste. What a good idea! Besides cakes. There are cards and doodads to supplement the cakes. This is a very nice, clean shop with pleasant counter...
