I have been shopping at this store few times a week for close to 20 years. Mostly for convenience as its on my way home and its always been ok experience. I seldom buy food from their deli, but today as Fred Meyer deli was down for repair, I decided to buy lunch for my kids there. They had deal (same as Fred Mereyer) for chicken and two 1 pound sides. Lady working the deli was obviously upset and not happy about something and as she packed my 2 pound side I ould tell not all of it was there but I didn't pay attention to scale. After paying and getting to my car I opened the bag as it didn't feel as heavy. I could tell only half of side dish was there as I ordered 2 pounds of same side. Even tough I was in hurry I decided to go back inside as I knew this would not be enough for my kids. I just stepped in express checkout and manager was there (Ken I believe) so I told him about what happened and they only gave me half of my side. He put on on the scale and it was 1.03 pounds. He made a remark that it was a pound and they even gave me extra. He said our sides are "those little containers so its really more like half a pound". He made me feel kinda dumb as he kept saying they even gave me extra and took care of me. At this point I was really late and there was a line at deli so I couldn't buy more without being there for another 10 min. This left bitter taste in my mouth the way I was treated. I decided to call the deli and clarify. Kim answered the phone and was very nice. She confirmed that side are one pound and if irderingvthe sane side it should be 2 pounds. She offered to have it ready for me or to take my name for next time. At this point I was late for work and really didn't want to go back. I did once and got a "you don't know what you are talking about dumb person treatment". I know this seems like a long review over something small and petty but it's small things that make difference between great and "so so" stores. I know in the future I will be going across the...
Read moreI went into the deli recently to get a soda and the diet coke was out. I can't drink sugared soda. I let the woman at the counter know. She was quite rude. Irritated I brought this to her attention, interupting her paperwork. She didnt know how to fix the machine. So I think a good option would have been that I return the cup and get my money back. Instead I am told to "take your $1.89 and go get a soda which costs more and bring it back and I will put a paid sticker on it." Except for all the extra walking and her rudeness, that would seem like a fair option. Instead I decided a $1.89 was worh not having to speak with her again, which I believe was her ultimate goal, so as not to be bothered further. I ended up buying two bottles of soda in addition to the empty cup that I had already purchased. I've been shopping at 29th and 14th for more than 20 years. True to form, a good number of their employees are just incredibly rude. Can't be bothered. Can't be fired. When they added the self-serve checkouts I thought at least I could avoid the rude clerks. But now you're watched, every action surveilled. Did she enter two donuts instead of three donuts? Or whatever the thieving public attempts to get past them. I understand theft happens. But the business decision was made to put in self checkouts, (with no cost savings for the customer by the way, while we have to check out our own groceries and bag them ourselves), customer should not be penalized and treated like suspected shoplifters. Losses are a cost of business while much larger sums on labor are saved. Overall, between rude employees and being monitored at checkout, a miserable shopping experience...15 minutes I...
Read moreGreat store, big shout out to Tony, the boxboy at the Browne's addition branch, he is always helpful and has a positive word for everyone. I have been buying my meat from the Browne's addition branch for over 5 years and my experience with the new guy back there took me back. Everytime I have gone to the meat department,I have not only experienced a caring person behind the counter, but someone who actually cares about there job and how the customer feels when they leave(satisfied or not). Until last night I would give rave reviews about my friends in Brown's addition, but the guy last night blew there spotless record. I've seen him at the front end and every time I had to deal with him it was unpleasant. Never helpful, condescending and always acted like I was a problem he wished he could ignore. Why they put him in the meat department I will never know, but I asked for a specific item and he informed me that he was sick, been off work for several days and he hadn't done an order and I was out of luck. I thanked him and left. I returned to the store about 1/2 hour later getting something that my beautiful girlfriend needed and went back to the meat department just to check. The man had left but the female butcher was there and I asked her the same thing. She immediately went out and showed me where the frozen ones were and asked if she could go check to see if there was any non frozen ones. Kudos to that entire store with the exception of one, they not only go above and beyond to satisfy my family, they have become part of my family. I don't wish anyone to lose their job,but I hope this will...
