The service I received from brothers, Bill & Adam at Bay Colony Antiques was over the top great. I purchased a four poster which they then modified to add canopy rails at no charge. This was a big ask and they could not have been nicer or more accommodating. They were very upfront about the fact that I was buying a vintage reproduction NOT an antique. They even personally delivered the bed to me in Nowhere Northern Michigan because I was only a hundred miles off their delivery route. Bill and his father unloaded the bed carefully, stacking the components in my garage and explaining assembly. Had I been ready to bring it into the house I have no doubt they would have happily set it up. Who provides service like this anymore? Nobody. Scratch that, Bay Colony Antiques does. This is why it kills me to see a one star review. People need to understand what it is that they are buying and work within that framework. To expect an antique cabinet to behave with the reliability of a steel filing cabinet is ridiculous. And to expect Bay Colony to reimburse for a piece of pottery they didn’t sell is beyond the pale. I purchased a china cabinet costing $1500 in Sept of 2020. Within a month, the glass pane from the door fell out. Soon after that was glued back in, one of the shelves in the cabinet spontaneously fell and broke a $600 piece of pottery. Bay Colony took no responsibility for my broken pottery. They agreed to pay a local furniture restoration business to fix the cabinet. They never paid the restoration business and did not return calls from either him or me.
