So I don’t usually do this, but I used to love this place; not so much anymore. I’ve been here before. I LOVED the ceviche. 25.00 dollars gets you a massive fishbowl-esque portion of ceviche, so I had no problem paying it. I go in today, I ordered my ceviche. He asks if I want the full meal or over tostadas (the appetizer). I point to the big full meal sized one, which is supposed to be served with salty crackers. He brings out the ceviche appetizer Over tortilla chips. It’s not the fishbowl like I ordered, but I’m really not one to complain. I eat it and say to myself, “oh well whatever, at least I’ll save some money”. The problem comes when I get my bill. I was charged for the entree sized order of ceviche (25.00). But I only received the appetizer size I bring this to the bartenders attention and he tries to tell me “oh no it’s different”. Very respectfully, I’m like listen, ive been here before
I have no issues paying 25 bucks for a LOT of ceviche; I have a big problem paying 25 bucks for 3 bites of ceviche. He refused to amend the bill; I refuse to ever go back. And I’ve worked in restaurants for 20 years and DONT tip less than 20% EVER, even for bad service (unless maybe you purposely kicked my child, then I would), so I have nothing but respect for hospitality workers. This guy just really padded my tab for no apparent reason, now I’ll...
Read moreDel Rey Taqueria y Bar is a breathtaking experience—more than a meal, it's a journey through time, culture, and soul. Every dish I tasted was a masterpiece of texture, flavor, and authenticity. There’s something in the ancestral blend of ingredients that speaks to the primal part of you—like a whisper from generations past, nourishing not just your body, but your spirit.
The food is truly unlike anything I’ve had before, and yet, somehow, it felt like home. Every bite was warm, rich, and lovingly prepared—the kind of cooking that clearly stems from deep cultural pride and devotion to craft. You can feel the legacy in every mouthful, a story told through steam, spice, and care.
Even more beautiful was the hospitality. The staff were so warm and kind—they spoke Spanish, engaged me in friendly conversation, and made me feel so welcomed and comforted during my very first week in Springfield. I didn’t feel like a stranger. I felt seen, embraced, and truly cared for.
My Airbnb host recommended Del Rey, and I’m so glad he did. I second his recommendation with all my heart. I left feeling not only full, but fulfilled. This is a place I would be proud to return to again and again. Thank you, Del Rey, for feeding me with love.
Gracias de todo corazón por su comida, su cariño y su espíritu. Me sentí muy bienvenida, y espero volver...
Read moreI am beyond disappointed of my experience this time at del rey. I usually go here all the time and have the best times with coworkers. Today we had a new waitress someone who I have never seen before, she seemed overwhelmed the entire time handling our table of 7. We still were very patient with her. We asked for the bill and paid in full but wanted a few shots before leaving. Not only she took 30min to get that last drink order but she threw the bill (of the last round) at me from behind and hit me while I was waiting to speak to a manager about my concern. Then she threaten to break my face, as frustrated and disgusted as I was I remained calm and waited for a manager, the manger did not show any sympathy towards the situation, he did not apologize at all, instead he accused us of yelling at her and he said she had every right to act that way because of the way “she was treated”. The manager basically said it was okay for her to act the way she did because she felt “pressured” by us the entire time. I feel so belittled, so disappointed that this one lady ruin what once was a Good Friday night at del Rey. I hope management changes soon or this restaurant will not continue to be successful. Server name was Rosaura, and the manger name was...
