We went to GameStop to buy a PlayStation 5 and trade in our PlayStation 4. The PS4, controllers, and headset had all been purchased at GameStop, as well as the previous versions of the console.
The employee, unfriendly and uninterested, pretended to check everything and told us that for the PS4 he could offer $50, but only if it came with a controller. Of the three we had, the original one was “not perfect” according to him, the other two weren’t considered, and neither was the headset.
Basically, according to him, we would have had to buy a new controller for $55 in order to give it back together with the console, which would leave us actually owing $5. Alternatively, he offered to take the “defective” controller for $9 and value the console at zero. Totally absurd that the same controller was defective if given with the PS4, but acceptable if sold alone.
We pointed this out to him, but he stood firm on his offer. At that point, faced with such a blatant rip-off, we walked out.
We went to Best Buy across the street, where they valued our PS4 at $70 and also bought the other controllers. There, we bought the PS5, new joysticks, and other products.
We will never buy anything from GameStop again. Professionalism and courtesy: zero. Now I understand why the store is always empty… Strongly not...

When going to GameStop it's always 50/50 in terms of customer service with my experience. When I came inside the store I was immediately greeted. I walked around, and started browsing while the line dwindle down. Store is also clean and organized. The employee was fantastic with dealing with customers. I thought it was weird since I had the app up on my phone and showed it to them, the coupon and when my subscription was to expire (end of 2023). They told me they couldn’t scan or look through the app so I had to provide my phone number. I ended up renewing it for $15 and tried to use the $5 credit to which they told me I already used it.
