I wanted to love it, I really did. I have unfortunately had very poor service each time I’ve been in here. My first time visiting back in 2021 I brought in my older Hoyt and wanted to get it tuned. I immediately felt like I was being judged by the younger guy assisting me, he went as far as to call my bow “garbage”… I get it, it wasn’t a new flagship bow but I still killed an elk with it that season and I didn’t have bunch of cash to spend on a new one at the time. So that bow meant a lot to me and I was happy with it. I left that day feeling upset and thought maybe I just caught someone on an off day, it happens.
I then returned the next year in 2022 with a different bow, I was able to afford a small upgrade and had a Blackout NV-32 that I found on a deal. Again wanted to tune it and get it ready for season. I was met with weird comments about my bow and an employee who wasn’t even helping me at the time goes “what is that” as if he was disgusted. I was pretty much done coming back here after this as I had gathered that if you don’t shoot a new Hoyt or Matthews it’s like you’re a second class citizen to these guys. I was super disappointed.
I never wrote a review until now because I don’t like being negative and reviews aren’t something I do too often unless I think it’s warranted. I just figured I wouldn’t come back and I’ll just let it be.
Well here we are in 2024 and about three weeks ago I was ready to make a big purchase and get myself a premium flagship bow. My buddy convinced me to do my due diligence and at-least go shoot some of Bow Racks bows as there isn’t another place nearby with Matthews or Hoyt. So I went into this last visit with an open mind and the mindset of “maybe if they know I’m willing to spend thousands of dollars on a setup, I’ll get some good service.”
I went in on a Thursday afternoon when it wasn’t too busy, let the guy know my intentions and he was very short with me and wasn’t very eager about selling me a bow. It felt like I was bothering him. He didn’t have any level of excitement or enthusiasm about the ordeal. Either way, I ended up shooting the Hoyt RX8, Alpha X and Matthews Lift. The whole time I had to pry information out of him about the product specs and recommendations. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed the Lift 33, I couldn’t buy it knowing I would have to come back to this store to have work done on it and didn’t trust him to set it up properly.
Therefore I took my business to another local archery shop whose staff was knowledgeable, personable and respectful. My new setup has been great.
Just my experience, I really hope others have a different one. It makes me sad having to leave a negative review on a local small business that seemingly the vast majority of people enjoy. I just felt that I had to express my experiences in hopes that some attitudes may change in there because us hunters at the end of the day need to stick together to protect the precious resources that provide for...
Read moreI came into the shop having only used a compound bow twice in my life. I traveled from Bend, OR after a number of friends recommended that I used The Bow Rack to get some guidance on what setup would work well for me. Being super new to the sport I had imposter syndrome walking into such a well known shop. The team at The Bow Rack was welcoming and helpful from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. It was busy as expected and I was asked immediately on what I was needing. After explaining I was a new bow hunter looking to get a setup I waited a short time until one of the tech's (Jordan) was free to walk me through the process. While I waited multiple staff member's approached me asking if I had been helped already. Once Jordan and I started working together, he was over the top helpful with tons of corrections to my form and answering all of my questions. Jordan and I spent over four hours working together making adjustments to draw lengths, poundage, trigger lengths, and anchor points, deciding on a bow, adding the furniture, paper tuning and finally sighting it in. Jordan is a great resource and listened to me. I left the shop feeling confident to start practicing while being cognizant of my form and mistakes I will make. This review is for anyone that may be hesitant to visit a pro shop because they are new and feel like they may be out of place. I recommend stopping in and working with one of the great tech's if archery is something you are interested in. Thank you Jordan for all your help, AJ for building my arrows, Wayne & Lisa for creating such a welcoming community and top notch experience, and the rest of the team for all that you do. I will continue to use The Bow Rack anything...
