ALMOST a 5-star visit. I LOVED the staff that I met while poring over furniture. They made it great! They also told my why it was SO HOT in the store (and then went to adjust it--which took a bit). Evidently the corporate office limits their temperature changes to 4 hours and then the system resets to something more economical. Sweat was pouring down my face and neck and back. I put my wet, sweaty hair up in a messy bun (even though my hair is too short). I was self-conscious and wondering what was wrong with me. I sat on one of the benches for sale for a long time to recover. So in that sense, it was NOT an enjoyable shopping experience. But the selection was wonderful and the staff who helped me were fantastic (otherwise it would have been a 2- or 3-star review). Read moreMy wife and I love shopping at homegoods, a lot of seasonal items that you can't find elsewhere. My biggest issue is with the staff. Everytime we go there the employees are rude; except on a few occasions. They are also a lot less generous about discounting damaged items at this store than other ones. Normally scratches or dents get you a 10% discount. When an item is more damaged than that we can usually at least get 20% off. This nutcracker was missing a chunk out of the top of his head and the manager said it was lightly damaged so only 10%. I'm sure someone will buy it eventually, I just don't get how consumers are okay paying close to full price on a broken item. Read moreI had a return of a string of solar deck lights that worked for 2 days and then quit so I took it back to HomeGoods in St. Cloud, Mn to see what my options were. The employee there flat out told me she couldn't take it back or return my money or replace the item for a new one. She told me I had to call the company that made them. I looked at the packaging and ask her " In China?" She told me to look on line to find out. Hmmm, such bad customer service. I went to my car and contacted their corporate office. 5 minutes later I am told that I will be receiving a full refund in the form of an e-gift card. Two days later, I have my e-gift card.
