Yesterday I had an unexpected encounter at the St. Cloud Spirit Halloween. I invited my friends to come along with me to purchase a costume at the store. As soon as we walked in and started shopping, an employee started to follow us around. At first I passed it off to her doing her job and it was just coincidence, but that changed when we were by the checkout. My friend and I purchased our items and were waiting for our other friends who were looking at a $1 item and trying to choose which design to get. The employee then proceeded to tell my friend and I if we were done purchasing to wait at the door. I also dismissed this as maybe just protocol. After she rudely said that we all decided to leave the store. After we went to my car she followed us on the phone and got my license plate while watching us the whole time. I walked back into the store before my friends and asked if we did something wrong and she calmly stated that "THEY are sketchy" and "THEY need to leave the store immediately". She seemed to be threatened by my friends who are Hispanic but not me who is white. As they entered the store she grew hostile and yelled at us to leave and not come back and threatened she was calling the police. As we leaved out of fear, my friend asks if her unprofessional and inappropriate behavior is due to them being Hispanic and she responded with "yeah" in front of her confused employees. I am writing this review for informing customers of this employee and her racism towards POC. I am also taking further action on this inappropriate behavior and would like this employee removed as customers are at risk for unlawful discrimination and profiling where a situation could escalate...
Read moreI am a 20 year old St. Benâs student that visited this location today with my friends. After they had finished their purchases the manager asked them to stand by door while 2 of us finished looking at the items. She had a bad vibe so I told my friend we should just leave and we all went to the car. Once we got in the car she proceeded to come outside and take a picture of my friendâs license plate. We went back inside to get an answer on what the problem was. The employee stated that we looked âsuspiciousâ after the statement was made I asked if it was because we were Hispanic to which she responded back yes and proceeded to tell her coworkers she did not want us in the store. We went back to the car to process what had just happened and she came back outside to laugh at us. We did not do anything wrong in the store all we did was walk around for our friend to find a costume and take a look at their other items they had in store. We were racially profiled and discriminated which is not easy to take in. The respect we gave to the employees was not reciprocated back to us and this was the WORST experience I have had at any store. I am utterly disgusted in the behavior of the manager, we as 20 year old college students should not have to experience any of these things and today that was...
Read moreMy friends and I were shopping at this location for costumes and we were followed around the entire time by an employee. When we checked out this employee stood right behind us and urged us to leave the store and followed us out to get our plate numbers when we did, when we went back inside to ask if we had done something wrong and to prove we hadnât taken anything she told us we were sketchy and when asked if it was because of our ethnicity she said yes. We were scared to leave the lot thinking she would have the cops come for us and we saw her leave the store again watching us and laughing at us. This encounter has had us shaken up and there is no direct line to make any complaints. We really hope this behavior is not tolerated and that...
