For the benefit of the lovely people who work here, I will begin by saying I have always had a positive experience at this store in the past, but this day has changed my experience, and I will never return.
This rating will hopefully bring attention to an issue that I find concerning and that needs to be addressed.
I am providing the email I sent the company today:
Please allow me to explain why today will be the last day I step foot in your store located in the Mall St. Matthews area of Louisville, Kentucky.
It was only a few weeks ago that I entered to find that you find it necessary to lock your doors. Now, it was odd, and when I called back to ask why it was to learn that your employees didn't feel safe. Locking the doors before a customer enters and after he/she leaves is the only method of protection they have available to them. I found that sad as I have enjoyed visiting this store several times and my husband and I have purchased countless items because it is (was) his favorite store, and any jewelry store that makes (made) him happy makes me happy.
Well, that is no longer to be. After entering your store today and alerting someone to my presence as I had entered as a customer exited, I found the pieces I was looking for to celebrate my cruise with my husband. As I stood there ready to purchase, a person came to the door. He was frustrated and his behavior questionable. He was allowed entry. He stormed around the perimeter of the shelves. He went to the door and slammed his hand on it then shouted profanity as he wanted to exit.
When I realized that this was a possible bad situation, I called my daughter to me and we prepared to leave only to be stopped by one of your employees.
Now, let me tell you my concerns: You have locked me and the child I would sacrifice my life for in a store with a crazy person. There is no security guard on duty to protect those within. The people who are working are not security and can do nothing to protect us. There was a pregnant mother working there who is due any day soon. I was terrified, shaking, and all I could think of was how in the world we could get out of this.
Now, I purchased my items after the gentleman had left and I could see he was no longer there. Perhaps the woman in red who tried to stop me from leaving wanted to make sure he wasn't waiting on the outside. I don't know. If she was, thank you for that at the very least.
No matter. Until you have security in this store and can restore piece of mind, I have informed my husband I will never go there again, and as most of the jewelry purchased is for me, I very much doubt he will either.
Take care of your people. Find a solution. And for goodness sake, hire someone trained for emergencies.
Do I stilll love the people that work there? Yes. It is my hope that by writing this, something will be done to protect them.

Read moreI loved when I went here at first. Last year I got my wedding band there and we had a great experience. I went back on Saturday to get my ring resized. The sales rep handled us quickly. However, when I was trying on rings the one I tried on did fit but was very tight. I told the rep that but they said it looked fine to them since I could pull it off and since it was midday there may be more swelling. I was skeptical but they are professionals so I thought it would be fine because they know more. I went to pick up my rings this week and they were still just as tight, if not tighter from Saturday. I told the rep that they were tight and I couldn’t wear them like that, and could they go up another size. The representative told me that it was probably just swelling and keep them and try them out. I was devastated. I was pregnant last year and horrible swelling on top of weight gain so I hadn’t been able to wear my rings since October of last year. I wanted to wait a few months post partum to get them resized after all the swelling did go down. I have waited and tried them on various times throughout the day, still extremely tight to the point their leaving indentions or I’m unable to put them on fully. Unfortunately, I will have to make another trip out w my baby to take them back for another resizing and then go pick them back up. I live half an hour away, so it’s a bit of a drive w a baby. I was hopeful to have these back in time for our anniversary dinner, but that will not be the case so they will have to go back on my necklace until I can make another trip out. Read moreAlthough we ended up not getting a ring from Jared's, they were amazing. The people were wonderful and helpful. They made us feel welcome and had a huge amount of selection for our budget. They catered to our budget and really did not push us or make us feel pressured in any way.
The other amazing thing about Jared's is how they really work as a team, everyone was helpful and very friendly and welcoming. I loved the fact that there was a play area for the kids, they made sure to ask us if we wanted any refreshments, they offered us umbrellas if it was raining and they even have a TV area if you wanted to watch. All around a wonderful experience even though we did not purchase anything and they still welcomed us.
When looking at their selections, it was awesome because their diamonds have a specific number inscribed on them in case they are stolen or lost. They do a wonderful job at listening to details in regards to what you are looking for and they also explained everything about jewelry in depth, such as what type of diamond, the quality, etc etc. The only reason we didn't end up purchasing from Jared's even though we saw one that we fell in love with is because o the fact that there was one that we had previously seen that we could not pass up. It was the ring that fit the bride's personality the best.
