State College International Market — Local services in State College

Okay so I am unfamiliar with international markets and literally the second I walked into this place I was immediately overcome with decision overwhelm. There were so many interesting freaking things I had never seen or heard of before that I literally couldn't make any concrete decisions. I suggested to John, the absolutely adorable and friendly proprietor that he develops some grab bags or something so folks could sample things and somebody needs to invent a app that lets me scan each item in that store and immediately shows me what the hell it is and why I want to eat it. I was at this place twice yesterday and would have gone back a third time if I hadn't had to go to work. Seriously it's like a food wonderland I had no idea you could eat like some of those things and I'm seriously looking forward to slowly sampling every one of the hundred thousand different wonderful things in this tiny but incredibly neat and visually mesmerizing store. The only thing he needs is Cheetos so please tell John he definitely needs to get Cheetos in there's a space right below the register where he could display them and my good friends need some Cheetos. This place is small, doesn't have that much selection, most of the products aren't what I usually buy, and it's can use a face lift. So why the 5 stars?

This place has that intangible feeling of satisfaction that comes with a small, local shop, a feeling lost to a world of Walmart, Costco, Amazon, etc. While I love the national discount stores for the money they save me, I find myself regularly visiting this small little place for that feeling of familiarity, walking around relaxed, picking up a few products I've never tried before.

It's hard to explain the charm this place has, maybe because it feels more like a little home...

This is my favorite international market in state college! They offer all sorts of foods and varieties including Eastern European, Indian, Asian, and more. You are sure to find something that you like!! There are so many things from frozen foods, snacks, sauces, ramen, etc. Also the owners and workers are very nice and friendly! Great service.
