I signed up with a lady named renee, shes a older lady in her 40s or 60s i cant tell but def elderly but still functional. Everything was great when i first moved in but its a BIG LIST OF WHY YOU SHOULD NOT RENT HERE! So ive been living here for 3 months and i always pay my rent on time. Ms renee calls me saying how i owe $50. Then she said she gonna add $100. I said why ms renee? She said because i owe and im late on rent. Mind you my rent is paid for this month & im just trying to pay early like i normally do. A week ahead so i dispute to her. Hey. This $50 that i owe is not for this month it would be for next month. Mind you i paid the months rent i was trying to pay early for next momths & it declined so they charged me $50. But ms renee wanted to say i have to pay that $50 the next day. & my rent is paid for the month she tried to get a quick one over me. I told her right now she changed her $150 into $50. This place is wild mind you. No lights by my apartment when i come out its dark as hell i have 2 new born daughters its hazardous coming out my house every night and i told ms renee this when i moved in. But shes money hungry just wants her lil commission its sad. I still live here and i am not renewing i promise that. So im giving you guys the heads up. Miss renee is a old trickster dont get fooled. She stopped me from getting my FOOD COTTAGE LICENSE !!! I called her every day trying to get simple info about my sewage, she didnt wanna help me she actually was against me. And i couldn’t understand cause we are the same race. But anyway the house has alot of bugs a bunch of spiders, snakes, all kind of bugs i never seen. The apartment was brand new when we moved in but feels like it was just done over quick for a flip. EVERYTHING I COMPLAINED ABOUT TO GET FIXED HAS NOT GOTTEN FIXED AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDINGS ARE FILTHY. I HAVE WAY MORE PICS THEN THE ONES I POSTED. THEY ALSO TRY AND CHARGE FOR EVERY SINGLE THING AND MS RENEE KEPT THREATENING ME TO BACK ME OUT OF MY LEASE. I would give these apartments 0 reviews if I could. Run don’t walk away from this place. Everyone in the comments talking about how amazing the leasing staff is that a lie. Renee in the rent office is rude. They try to pull u in by being nice but after you sign your lease that it with the niceness. These people in the rent official is money hungry. They add an eviction to my name saying I was short on money didn’t even give me a heads up just post the note on the door for everyone to see. But luckily I kept all my receipts and show them I paid and was on time in fact. If you experience a problem with your unit they tell you to put a work order in but it never fulfilled. After a year of staying here we experience a sudden roach infestation I called for pest control that I pay for 4 time not one time did they come out to my unit. Let’s not get in to the violence that goes on in this apartment complex and the one next door. Retreat 138 is not gated there no cameras any where and the street light don’t work so it dark. Residents would throw they trash in middle of the street or next to the trash can never in the bin. My grandma was getting out of a hurricane in the state she stayed in and brought her small service dog (yorkie) management told me I would have to pay $400 for him to be there for no more then 4 days. And stated to me we just add a balance on to someone else for the same thingā€. I was told I was unable to have pets as visitors. Mine you I myself had a schnoodle that was on the least i pay $400 at move in for and $30 a month to keep. Both where house and potty trained. I had a water leak from the apartment above in my daughter room that affected her light when I tried to contact the emergency maintenance no answer left a voicemail no one ever responded back. Update now under new management….

But there’s just no way , I’ve only been here a day and you would think because of the high quality uploads there’s no roaches ! But BELIEVE ME NO ONE SHOULD EVER HAVE AN EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS ! BEFORE U BE FAST AND TRY TO MOVE SOME WERE EVEN IF THERYE HIGH GET IT BECAUSE THIS RIGHT HER IS SICK AND TWISTED IT IS 2:05 AT NIGHT I GO YO GRT A SNACK I A COUNT 20 ROACHES THEN THE BATHROOM I COUNT 10 ROACHES PLEAZE IM TELLING YOU NOW DO NOT PICK THIS APARTMENT! ROACHRS EVERY WERE EVEN WHEN WE FIRST GOT THE KEYS ROACH IN MY ROOM CLOSTET ROACH IN MY BROTHERS ROOM AND ROACH IN MY MUMS ROOM THIS IS JUST OUTRAGEOUS WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS CHECK REVIEWS AND ALSO THEY HAVE HAD THEM SINCE 2015 ! WARNING to all that read this review full of FACTS, any reply to this review from Retreat 138 will be laced with excuses, lies or both. This review is pretty long, but will save innocent people a lot of time and headache. Most of the positive reviews left are coming from fake accounts that Retreat 138 has paid for or it’s their own employees. I did my own research because it looked very suspicious to me. Before moving into this place they have a lot of false advertisements online that will lure you in. They should not consider themselves to be a ā€œluxury apartment complexā€ or advertise that they are. I have seen and been inside real luxury apartment complexes and it’s not even close. The buildings are rather old and poorly insulated with wind blowing through cracks in the window frames, closet areas, and the front door. The bathroom fixtures in the tubs are old, the laminate floors are cheap and peel easily along with the laminate countertops. The kitchen appliances are also cheap. Our stove broke the first day and the dishwasher itself does not drain properly. I complain only to get blank stares and excused like it never happened when brought up again. When first moving in, I noticed an abundance of boulders and palm trees being staged throughout the complex. I also noticed at the same time nothing was being done to improve the inside of the apartments or the quality of living. You cannot advertise this as being ā€œnewly renovatedā€ because it is very misleading. This was all for show to bait new tenants to sign their overpriced leases. Please stop advertising your complex as ā€œluxury apartments and condominiumsā€. A huge red flag will tell those that find themselves in my situation is that luxury apartments DO NOT ACCEPT section 8. That would be my fault for not paying attention in a situation where I rushed to move. The biggest complaints I’ve heard so far was Roaches and the Maintenance guys. Their pest control has been to my apartment twice with no signs of slowing down the roaches and I guess they hired a new pest control company since then. After weeks of complaints and missed/rescheduled appointments, I personally had to go buy my own professional DIY roach treatment to see any results. The roach situation by itself seems like a health issue in which I’m surprised Aspen properties has not been sued yet. Once again when you complain to staff all you will receive is blank stares, excuses and a non follow up on the situation. The maintenance team is by far one of the most unprofessional and rude groups of people I have encountered. The ā€œno knockā€ entering into apartments, the inability to actually fix anything, the fact that they do not leave any notes or work orders saying that they have been in your home is the way they do business. It’s hard to trust any company that enables that behavior. The whole ā€˜ghetto’ nature of their work performance is as accurate as others explain it to be. There is a constant collection of trash and cigarette ashes in the breezeways not to mention the noise from other neighbors with dogs and children during late night hours. The walls are really thin so you will hear a lot even if it’s someone just walking around or a baby crying. You may want to take your trash bags to the dumpster during daylight hours because the dumpster stays piled up and ready for visitors like raccoons, possums and stray cats that may be dangerous to tenants. I have never personally seen the courtesy officer at any moment during my stay (1 year lease), not even once. Upon my move in, the CARPET WAS FILTHY and the overall condition of the apartment was a wipe and go job. They even keep security deposits to help renovate their nasty units. For all of this hassle you could easily rent an actual house for the same price if not less. I hope this review helps out someone that is unsure of...

I’ve been met with the ultimate professionalism by Kristen Hamlin during me and my boyfriend’s application process at Retreat 138. The touring and application process have definitely been a little different because of COVID-19, but Kristen has done an excellent job accommodating and assisting us. She was able to squeeze us in for a self-guided tour of their beautiful model home, and provided me with updates on the status of our application promptly and kindly when I reached out to her. All of the official documents were easily accessible to sign and complete online and the application portal was super easy to navigate as well. I’m looking forward to moving into our unit in the next few weeks and will provide an update on that process then.

Update: Our unit was spotless when we moved in, no complaints. The community is quiet and unproblematic. We are in love with our new space, and are thankful that Kristen has been so helpful from beginning to end. Our key pick-up and walk through process was seamless. The location is great. There are stores, restaurants, grocery stores, and so much more less than five minutes away. Interstates are easily accessible as well. The washer and dryer, pantry, & kitchen are definitely our favorite amenities. The countertops and stainless steel appliances are worth the price. I will say that the renovations in the unit appear rushed & unprofessionally installed. There are gaps in the counter where the countertop was installed, the paint jobs throughout the unit are sloppy in certain spots. It only bothers my OCD, but doesn’t affect my overall infatuation with the unit. My biggest disappointment is definitely the dog park, though. Owners don’t clean up after their dogs so it’s almost impossible to walk in there and not step on any. I was excited for my puppy to have some leash-less outdoor time everyday, but the park could definitely enforce cleanliness more.

All in all, Retreat 138 is a great place to save and be comfortable. We look forward to staying here for the next year until we proceed to...
