My late husband had a decent collection of memorabilia he was very proud of. After 4 years of his passing, I decided that I had no reason to keep it. I reached out to Tom and during our conversation he explained that I would do better if i put my collection in an auction through his company. I dropped my collection off on 1/2/24, he was supposed to be there but must have forgotten even though I spoke with him the day before. I felt very uneasy about trusting this store with this collection for many reasons. I did, however, sign for the auction with Five Star. I can only tell you that the next 90 days were exactly what I feared. Story after story, call after call, I even stopped in. I was made to believe that any day now the auction was going to happen and that I would be given a link so I could follow it, that too, never happened, Then there was the conversation with Tom on 3/1/24. I cannot put into words how rude, disrespectful and just down right awful, this man is and how he spoke to me. He told me that I was bothering his staff and that he was the owner and I was to speak to him only. I can only hope that anyone reading this never has their wife or significant other spoken to the way that I was. On April 16th I reached out to Tom via text and he told me the auction was over. Before you ask, the answer is NO, I had no idea that it happened and I was never sent a link to watch it. I was also told that bids are put in to help the bidding along to go higher, then I was told that it all starts at zero, LIE after LIE after LIE. I am here to tell you that a signed authentic mini helmet with Jerome Bettis signature on it was sold for $20. I am writing this to warn you to think twice on doing business with Tom and Five Star Collectibles. I should have listened to my gut. Instead I put my guard down and trusted this man to have my back, he knew my situation. He did not have my back, actually I feel as if I was robbed. Tom is a horrible person, business man and human being.
In closing, my message is, think twice and think again..... demand better customer service than...
Read moreIt was my first time going to a card shop / collectibles shop was very excited. Unfortunately didn’t go to well. Walked in there , there were 3 gentlemen working. I ask the man at the computer if there were any Pokémon cards available and was ignored the first time then asked again and response was it’s in the casings which is basically all football and baseball which is cool from the little time I got to see but was very difficult to see anything Pokémon and wasn’t pointed in any direction. Then ask him again where Pokémon stuff was and he reply’s saying he knows nothing about Pokémon and to ask the other gentleman. so I asked the gentleman in room that walked up with another man where I can find Pokémon cards said had very little selection pointed to some stuff in the right and some cards that he never even brought out to show me. Then was interested in buying a poke box original set like I had when I was a kid and didn’t show me it so my friend had to ask if I could actually see the stuff never got to see the cards they had either. I was treated like I wasn’t even a customer I was there trying to spend some money get some stuff for my kids and these men treated me like I was dirt. Then I ask how much this poke box thing is and no one even gave me an answer they said “eh idk a couple hundred “. Then the guy who’s at the otherside of room who knows nothing about Pokémon from what he said in the way beginning yells out 300$!!!! So it all felt very awkward at this point so I walked out waiting for my friend to sell some football cards cuz apparently this was suppose to be one of the best spots to go which I have no clue about but from first experience in one of these store lemme tell ya it makes me never wanna step foot back in one. So I go to my truck think about it grab 250$ to go buy this Pokémon box for my son and this man yells at me and says I’m not aloud to purchase anything and I’m never aloud back in the store... I wasn’t rude to anyone I was just trying to get some cool stuff and be helped out , I didn’t even get to look at the other side of the store. Worst First...
Read moreAbsolutely 100% reccomend this store to everyone! I called ahead to see if they had time to check some stuff out for me. I had some old sports memorabilia that I have had a difficult time finding the value of, even after going to many other shops in the area. I also had some older trading cards that I was possibly looking to sell. When I got there, he informed me that they weren't very experienced in the gaming cards I had, but would take a look and ended up referring me to another shop that specialized in what I had. The man I interacted with was the most respectful and honest person Ive ever dealt with when it comes to this kind of business. I must say that at some of these other shops, I was very rudely disrespected and insulted on my intelligence and knowledge of what I had or my intentions with my collector items. Some things that I've acquired I simply know nothing about, and some things I've been collecting for 20+ years. The guys at this shop were very knowledgeable and gave me honest feedback on what to do with my collections. We actually learned from each other. It was a very pleasant experience and highly reccomend this...
