My now wife and I had a terrible experience with Ticknors. The gentlemen there were plenty nice anytime we walked in, and they have a nice catalog of products. BUT... they are the most unorganized retailer I've dealt with in a long time. I think they suffer from some outdated software, or perhaps just a lack of communication (in a store with maybe 3 or 4 people working), but they managed to lose the father of the bride’s suit that they had to completely reorder less than a month before the wedding.
They also shipped a suit to their Columbus location for one of my groomsmen, and when I asked where it was after patiently waiting for 2 weeks, they said they'd check. 2 hours later (conveniently, the amount of time it takes to drive to Columbus) they said it would be arriving today. What timing!
And there were two more examples of me stopping in to pick up items, like the ties, from one salesman, and then getting a call the next day, from a different salesman, asking if I picked up my ties, because they can't find them....
Getting the men dressed was, without a doubt, the most stressful part of planning our wedding.... and that's saying something.
PS. While I am being very careful to not name names, please don't use "we have XXX number of weddings this summer, we've been so swamped" as an excuse. That is of no concern to me. There are plenty of people out there looking for jobs if help is needed.
PPS. I almost forgot. The day of the wedding, we groomsmen noticed that two of the guys had some weird stitching all over their suits, lining the lapels and other areas. I’m pretty sure that was supposed to be removed, right? And finally, I offered to pay for my groomsmen’s dress shirts. To this day, I still can’t figure out who paid for two of the shirts. I went in to make my final payment, the salesman insisted two of the men paid for their own shirts, and when I asked them about it, they said they definitely did not. But the salesman showed it to me right there on the computer, as paid for?! So, in the end, Ticknors literally lost out on money that was owed to them as a result of...
Read moreI do not recommend using Ticknors for your wedding. We had numerous past customers recommend us to Ticknors after dressing their own wedding parties, and said they had a seamless experience. That unfortunately was not our case.
We only needed (3) tuxes from them - groom, best man, and father of the groom. We purchased the grooms tux in-store early in February and received all the pieces with no issues. Our other two members placed their ordered by July and were assured delivery and full alterations, on-time, for our October 1 wedding.
Two weeks before, we checked-in on the status and we received multiple different communication messages from both locations that the items were to be ready at. Our best man made NUMEROUS trips to his store location to get each piece of his tux (they were wrong styles, sizes and multiple issued with his outfit). He finally received all his pieces the week before the wedding but Ticnkors was unable to have everything altered in time. We had to pay for separate alterations elsewhere and were not happy, as Ticknors offered tailoring that would be done in-time before the wedding.
We were waiting on bow-ties until two days before the wedding and I believe if I had not been diligent about following up with Ticknors two weeks before the wedding, items would have been missing and incorrect.
For only having to dress three members for our wedding, this was the most stressful experience of planning our whole wedding and we recommend going to Mens Warehouse instead of Ticknors. We are sad to have to submit a review like this, but the experience was...
Read moreThe suits were very well made but the process of getting them was insanity. We went in and got the men fitted for their suits and ordered them over three months out from the wedding and were told that they should be in within two weeks and we would be called when they came in. We finally go up to the store about a month and a half after the order was placed to see what was going on. Parts of the order were in, the vests were being held up at a port somewhere. Weird, but okay. Another month passes, we are getting anxious. We had to continuously drive up to the store to get information because they wouldn't call us like they said. After we threatened to pull the order because it was getting to close to the wedding, the manager called to order all new vests right in front of us, said they would be there in a week. Did they originally forget to send in the order, was their story about the port true? Who knows. We had to rush around the week of the wedding for the guys to get back in to make sure the suits fit then they were ready one day before the wedding. I am shocked about the lack of communication and that we had to constantly make sure that what we wanted was going to be there in time. So they are nice suits, but working with them caused a...
