Entered for a quick coffee and croissant, ordered, and waited patiently on the side. After a few minutes, a rather unfriendly woman asked, "are you waiting for something?" (tone was as if I was bothering her). I was standing near the pastry counter and briefly replied, "I already ordered" and pointed at the cash wrap. Presuming she was just crabby... unaware I ordered. A young man happily returned from the back with my Latte, and I continued to wait for the croissant as I figured it was also being prepared in back. Minutes later, the original man who took my order returned inside the cafe. I felt more comfortable asking him if the croissant was coming out soon, she interjects, almost YELLING out from behind the counter, "I asked you if you were waiting for something?!" --- Despite the fact if she had previously asked me or not (rude, or polite) this is Bal Harbour shops, and clientele hopes for a certain level of service; general kindness being one of them. It was just uncalled for and not elevated. I replied to her again that I had already ordered, but the croissant did not arrive with the latte (as I expected both within reasonable time). The original gentleman proceeded to bag up my croissant as she glared, clearly obtaining an issue with me, lol? Before leaving I ensured to tell her how incredibly rude she was, perhaps she was just unaware of her negative presence and needed a reminder how she made me feel, and possibly others, creating a very unwelcome and poor environment. I never expressed visual or verbal frustration, nor rushed anyone working in the cafe, so I am unsure and have no words as to why she was so aggressive. I stood quietly and patiently off to the side looking at the pastry assortment and read over the menu, alone. She rhetorically replied, "thank you" with a sarcastic grin. Disgusting behavior, embarrassing to the cafe’s management, and poor representation of Bal Harbour’s elite staff. I will be sure to remain far away from the cafe and encourage the center's guests to stay away as well, from as long as she is employed. Bal Harbour guests should spend their money at a more courteous restaurant where the staff is kind, welcoming, and accommodating with class and general...
Read moreThis place is terrible. Service is horrible. We had some blond waiter, who was far from welcoming. He was rushing us to order as soon as we sat down. I wanted to go look at the pastries (which they have on display) and he just said “we either have this or this” pointing at the menu. I repeated to him that I wanted to SEE the pastries before I ordered, not just go based on the names listed on the menu. You can tell he wanted us to eat and leave to make room for other guests. One of us ordered an American coffee. An espresso came instead-super strong. It seemed like a hassle to have them “dilute it” to make it better. They finally took it back to make a new one. But the new one never came. We eventually told them that we didn’t want it since it had been a while and we were almost ready to leave. We wanted a to go box to put the left over $16 slice of cake that we didn’t finish. The waited very impolitely and with an attitude said “ we don’t have one”. When we were wrapping it in a napkin some other waited approached us as said “ wound you like a box?” (Which he then brought). So, yes, they had a box but the blond waited didn’t feel like bringing it. Long story short: expensive place, not worth going there because service is terrible and they make you feel like they are doing...

I recently visited Avenue 31 Cafe and was absolutely blown away by the experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Uriel with warm, friendly service and a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.
The menu offers a fantastic variety of delicious options, whether you're in the mood for a hearty breakfast, a light lunch, or a sweet treat. I personally tried the avocado toast, and it was hands down the best I've ever had—perfectly ripe avocados on freshly baked bread, topped with just the right amount of seasoning. Their coffee is also top-notch, with a rich, smooth flavor that pairs perfectly with any of their pastries.
What truly sets Avenue 31 Cafe apart, though, is the attention to detail. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure you have a great experience, from checking in to see how you're enjoying your meal to offering helpful recommendations. The decor is charming, with a blend of modern and rustic touches that create a welcoming vibe.
Whether you're looking for a quiet spot to enjoy your morning coffee or a cozy place to catch up with friends, Avenue 31 Cafe is the perfect choice. I can’t...
