I have posted here and removed once before. Giving the store and its employees the benefit of the doubt. However, this last experience, will have me leaving this review up. I work customer service, I know Iâm just one person, who doesnât have much effect one how the store can be changed. However, when youâre mistreated three times by one place, I do feel itâs fair to let other people know.
The first bad experience was when I brought clothes and brand new toys in. My husband had brought items in before I had, that did not have as many name brand items, and no brand new toys, and he received more store credit than I had. I figured, maybe different people rate items differently, and decided to let it slide. The prices were decent.
The second bad experience was when I went to use my store credit, and the lady who was checking me out, charged my store credit twice, and then said that I still needed to pay more. The amount I had on my card, was more than what the charge was. Luckily, I had all the receipts from getting and spending store credit. She was very rude and short with me, saying there was nothing she could do. When the manager came over to fix it, I tried explaining how she was not very kind, and he was very dismissive, never apologized, just said âGlad we could get that sorted outâ.
The final experience was today when I attempted to sell them out BabyTrend Expidition stroller wagon. We bought this item for $60 off of Offer UP. But we still ended up getting a brand new one, so I decided to try and let Other Mothers have another chance. They stated the reason why they did not want to accept the item, was because it was âsun fadedâ, which I agree it was. However, I have seen god awful items here, of which I will support with pictures, and being sun faded was the least of the issues with those items.
I have seen other people walk in and sell Other Mothers junky items, however, when itâs me, apparently my items are âdirtyâ. I really do feel, after all these bad experiences, it is because of the way I look and their implicit biases are affecting my experience here.
It is such a shame, that a store that plays Christian music, fails to live up to the basic commandment of not judging, and to treat everyone with kindness.
My family is blessed enough to not need to shop here, and we will not be anymore. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Sales at Target are good enough for us. Itâs just a bummer because I do believe buying second hand is better for the environment, but not at the expense of supporting a...
   Read moreMy husband attempted to drop off a bag of clothes, and he was sent away ultimately being told our drop off have to be placed in two separate 13 gallon bags. Okay, inconvenient and seemingly unnecessary, but we did that. Upon returning a little later with our two separate bags, we were told it would be three days before we would receive store credit, despite others bringing in bags and having their name called that day as we shopped. At checkout I presented a coupon I had found on an Other Mothers website. The cashier, Pam, informed me it was too old, and when I stated there was no expiration date on it, she retreived her manager. Upon speaking to management, we were told a different story about it not even being from the same store. Again, inconvenient, and despite snide comments and huffing from the cashier for holding up her line, we made it work.
Because I love this store and consistently shop here for our 18 month old and 7 month old, my husband didnât say anything at the time, but later informed me that he overheard staff having inappropriate conversation about him and criticizing our drop off. He said he felt it was personal that we were pushed out three days for store credit from our drop off. He also said there were eye rolls and scoffing from staff throughout the entirety of our shopping trip there.
My husband returned the following day to see the progress made on our drop off, and, again, spoke with management in private regarding the issues we encountered the day prior. The manager was anything but helpful and didnât seem to care about anything he had to say with no whims about our inconveniences or disrespectful staff. Upon suggesting that we would find an alternate store to shop at, she was quick to dismiss him, before giving him our (still untouched) drop-off, and sent him on his way with nothing but excuses.
I donât know if it was an off day, or an off couple of days, but damn near everyone we encountered left a bad taste in our mouths. Fortunately, we were informed of another store, Once Upon a Child, that we are beyond eager to visit.    Read moreUnderstaffed, overwhelmed, and over cluttered store & rushed poor customer service. went to trade for the 1st time today. Have been to the phoenix location to shop and always had a great experience. Today at surprise store not so much. Had 1 13gal. Bag of all name brand clothing, 2 baby bouncers & a bumbo seat. Immediately I was told they couldn't get to my stuff for a while as they were already busy. I said no worries I'll come back tomorrow for the cr or pickup etc. We would browse n shop in the store today. Quickly They passed on 2 bouncers 1 brand new just didn't have they Musical part attached. Bumbo was also passed on due to slight discoloration from heat in garage (lime green color-slightly yellowish from heat) completely understandable. However a lady walked in behind me with a pee stained mattress that was being purchased & taken to the back?ewww, changed my mind about wanting to shop at that point. I kindly thanked them grabbed my clothes without letting them waste any more of my time & left. I don't think it was in issue with my items. They were 100% overwhelmed with piles of stuff everywhere , a line of people worth more stuff & didn't want to be bothered. I'll be taking my business elsewhere(over the rainbow kids store) as this was such bad experience. I get being busy but customer service is key!
