This place stopped be accommodating. I have a severe pet allergy and began seeing a lot of pet dander on my patio (hair from air vents of 6 other units and floors above me shedding balls of dog/cat hair onto my 1st floor patio). There was so much hair that my plants were furry! I called the office to ask them to address the hair or provide an accommodation so I could go outside without having an allergy attack. They said I could put up a sun shade (said it had to be tan for aesthetics), and to email Rachel why we put one up. I emailed "Can you please reply to this email so I have written permission to add sun shade/patio covering? I want to make sure itâs clear that Iâd have to attach it to the external building to properly install it. If this is something youâd rather have maintenance install, please let me know. " and she replied "Yes, that is fine." Then after we spent 250 in the product and installation they emailed us "While we had previously agreed to the placement of a sunshade on your patio, unfortunately, due to aesthetic considerations, we are unable to allow the patio to remain in its current form."
I replied "Let me get this right, it's an allergy problem that I didn't cause and I offered to let you guys fix it and you said to take care of it myself so I paid for covering to protect my patio from other residents' dog hair balls. Now your office is basically saying it's too ugly and that's somehow more important than the ability of me to breathe in my outside space?" Then they said a tarp is unacceptable and we replied with proof that the product we used is in fact a sun shade. I emailed them "If the material is a concern, please provide a link to an alternative material or color that would meet your criteria. As a reminder, since it's an air and hair related allergy, a mesh material or a reduced sun shade percentage wouldn't meet my allergy concerns because it can't filter all pet hair." The didn't provide an alternative product and said to not wrap it around the pillar on the patio. So we fixed that. Then they began saying using this would be a fire safety concern and we reminded her that the sun shade is only held down by a few bricks and can easily be moved to escape in an emergency.
Then they said "Patio Shade Installation Does Not Meet Community Standards. We understand that the fabric you are using is marketed as a sun shade; however, it cannot remain as it is currently installed. While we appreciate your effort, with due respect, it still resembles a tarp and gives the appearance of ongoing construction. We have forwarded photos of the setup to our management team and the property owners, and they have decided not to allow this type of patio cover. We are happy to permit the use of a patio umbrella or approved rolling sun shades. If the current setup remains in place after this date, a Comply or Vacate notice will be issued.â An umbrella won't address my allergy concern and now theyâre threatening us to vacate us.
They continue to NOT address my allergy concern while putting my health at risk every time I'm asked to go back outside and make changes when they change their minds on something they already approved of. They keep worrying more about the property appearance than a real life threating allergy concern.
Here's another example of their lack of care for your safety/life: when my monoxide detector kept going off I told them they needed to address the problem and it took several days of bringing up the concern before they sent out someone to check for air and turns out the product was defective so they removed it from the apartment and after months of never replacing it, we called and they finally put a new one in.
In conclusion, The Arlo Apartments is the last place I'd recommend. If you value your peace of mind and sanity, steer clear of this place. The management lacks professionalism and their lack of empathy overshadow any positive aspect the apartment complex might have. They care about appearances more than...
Read moreFirst of all the office staff and maintenance deserve a 5 star. The people here have exceeded all expectations and the maintenance people are absolutely amazing. Maintenance works very quickly and is very responsive and respectful! The office staff responds quickly and does everything in their power to make the residents happy. And they do cute activities for the residents regularly. All of my complaints are for whoever is in charge of the building plans and the owner. .. The insides of the apartments are nice other than a few minor paint mistakes. I love them, very spacious even for the 1 bedroom. Parking is an absolute joke though. I was told there would be covered parking by the end of August and it is now the end of October and there isn't even enough parking for the current residents but they have no problem building more units. The parking spots they do have are faded and people park in the handicap stalls cause the paint has almost completely faded. There is no parking for guest and for a period of time they threatened to tow people parked in certain areas that weren't even marked as a no parking zone. . IF YOU HAVE PETS specifically dogs. I would not ever recommend this place. This is the main reason for my 1 star. For a place that claims to be dog friendly they are very unfriendly. First let me talk about the dog park. When I was given the tour the dog park had not been built yet but I was told they would have a nice dog park with toys and obstacles. Sounds awesome. Yet we were given a litter box. When I say litter box I mean they literally gave the dogs gravel to use the bathroom on. And during the hotter months I took the temperature of the gravel and it was 120° which if you know anything about dogs it's way to hot for their paws. My dog developed some severe paw allergies and I took her to the vet and she said I shouldn't even take my dog to the dog park, but I don't have anywhere else to take my dog to the restroom. We constantly received very passive aggressive emails about pets using the bathroom elsewhere. But when you have to walk all the way to the ONLY dog park you can't control when your dog drops down to go to the bathroom. Why am I paying $45 a month in pet rent when they can't even maintain the dog park. There have been multiple times I've taken my dog out and the trash can at the dog park is overflowing with poop bags and the bags they provide are completely empty. No wonder some people aren't able to pick up after their dogs. The most recent email threatens to raise the pet rent because dogs are peeing on the bushes and "killing" them. This is absolutely ridiculous. Our pets are residents here to and should be treated as such. I picked this place specifically because they seemed to really care about dogs. Between the places I was deciding from this place had higher pet fees but I was willing to pay that if it meant my dog was also going to have a nice place to live. I reached out to the office staff early August about my concerns. Which I was contacted almost immediatelyso shout out the office for being awesome. They said that they need approval to so things (obviously) but they were already working on a solution. 2 months later and nothing has changed with the dog park. I really want to like this place more and with them still being under construction i can be understanding to a certain point. I just hope to see some improvement...
Read moreI had high hopes for The Arlo, but my experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the very beginning, red flags were waving, and I should've paid closer attention before signing our lease.
The first encounter with the management, particularly Angie, the assistant manager, was a clear indication of the treatment we were about to endure. Despite notifying her that we would be a few minutes late for our apartment tour, she left us waiting in the office for 10 minutes and then had the audacity to say, "I didnât think you were actually coming, and now I donât have time to give you a full tour." This unprofessional behavior set the tone for our entire experience.
Against our better judgment, we signed the lease, only to discover that the insulation in these apartments is virtually nonexistent. While some noise is expected in apartment living, at The Arlo, you'll hear everything from your neighborsâwalking, running, arguing, furniture moving, dresser doors opening/closing, TVs, music, phones buzzing, and more.
The day after we moved in, we received a noise complaint notice from the management, accusing us of being too loud, moving things around too much, stomping, and slamming things. We explained that we were in the process of moving in and unpacking, apologizing for any temporary noise. However, instead of understanding, the management, particularly Sheri, bombarded us with repeated notices and three-day compliance warnings, creating an environment where we felt afraid to walk in our own apartment. Despite our efforts, including laying out rugs to minimize noise, our attempts to communicate were met with disregard.
The management office, rather than handling issues professionally, accused us of things that were completely out of line. Instead of engaging in constructive dialogue, they chose to be defensive, creating an unpleasant living environment.
The only silver lining in this dreadful experience is the maintenance guy, Mike, who has been a beacon of positivity. He is hardworking, prompt in addressing maintenance requests, and the only saving grace in an otherwise horrendous living situation.
In conclusion, The Arlo Apartments has been a colossal disappointment. If you value your peace of mind and sanity, steer clear of this place. The management's unprofessionalism and lack of empathy overshadow any positive aspect the apartment...
