I went to my local mens wearhouse a about an hour away from the Tacoma location. I had 8 groomsmen in my wedding and we rented out suits. We really should have bought them but I figured the rentals would look as good as the pictures. When my suit came in I was extremely disappointed. The employees kept telling me how good it looked on me. I politely expressed how I didnāt like the way it looked of fit. I even asked to buy one off the rack and asked if it could be altered by the following week. The managers reply was not only short but demonstrated a complete lack of empathy and dedication to helping me ālike the way I lookā on my big day. He said alterations were out three weeks. No effort was made to call another location or even refer me to someone who could help. I spent two days shopping for a new suit and alterations that could be done in a week. After a whole ordeal I took my chance at the Tacoma Mens Wearhouse. Iām extremely glad I did. The first thing I noticed was not just the bare bones professional dress of the employees, but the pride they took in their appearance. Their ensembles were fitted and pressed to impress. Jaylen helped me. I told him about my experience at their other location and my situation. He understood the current looks and styles and got me into a suit that exceeded my expectations. This was on a Friday and my wedding was that following Friday. He brought the seamstress out and promised to have it ready by Wednesday, maybe Tuesday. The next day I received an email saying it was ready for pick up. I can only assume that because they take pride in their company and wanted to make up for my previous experience, without me asking or saying anything they gave me a discount on the suit and alterations. I canāt speak for everyone but I would have paid more just for the quality service provided by Jaylen and the staff at the Tacoma location. When I told my groomsmen about this 4 out of 8 of them expressed negative experiences at the location we went to originally. Two of the suits had to be sent back. One even was told he wouldnāt get it back in time. He said they made him feel like he ordered the wrong sizes even thought they measured and ordered it for him. A couple said they felt like 2003 NBA draftees with how baggy the rentals are. For any suit needs I will refer friends and family to drive over the water to Tacoma Mens Wearhouse. I know going there they will like the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'll start by saying the immediate greet upon walking in while swift was rather cold and hurried. No name tag or name given, just a basic what do ya need (paraphrasing) and on to the racks. While lacking bed side manner, I did have respect for the sales tactic, straight to business, size info exchanged, product provided, before I knew it I was being marked for Hemming and we had a whole outfit thrown together, i was honestly on the fence when i walked in. That being said, when we got to the register, the cold sales minded tactics were no longer cute. She was unable to provide me a date of completion for the hemming, stating that once we get everything set up, she will let me know. Unfortunately, I was on a deadline as I had previously explained to my still unknown salesperson and was not about to drop 5-6 hundred on a "we will see" scenario, but I let it go hoping for a better outcome. The next thing I know, she is asking me for my personal info, citing the need to contact me for the completion of the pants hem, which seemed reasonable...that is until she requested I sign the digital pad. Call it smart, call it paranoid, call it whatever you like, but my gut said...why???...so I asked...then came the ,"oh its just so we can have permission to contact you when the hem is done" but....I decided to read the fine print...as she is saying, "it just states we won't sell your info and that we have permission to call you etc.." Yet, what I was reading stated I was signing up for a rewards program and allowing my info to be used for marketing purposes, etc...I was baffled...why do all this work, just to blow the sale at the register with lies, she then tells me if i dont sign they wont call me when the hem is done, ill have to call to find out. I was beyond baffled and upset, I said no thank you and swiftly headed for the exit. I do apologize as your Puyallup, WA location, while smaller, has amazing customer service, the Tacoma, WA location I had the misfortune of being directed to was a sad mistake. I kept my cool, I did not use foul language, rant or rave, or make idle threats, I simply left in disappointment, I highly recommend an older but still valuable piece of training material called, "Give'em the pickle!" by Bob Farrell, it appears some staff these days could use it, plus he used to do business in the neighborhood. Thank you, but...

Appearance: Pretty inviting once you get in. Everything is well lit and you can almost see everything from the front door.
Selection:
I went here shopping for sport coats and at the time they had a BOGO sale going on which worked out well for me. You can find some pretty decent, quality coats here made of pure wool and with side vents. The website sales tend to be far more abundant and frequent and you can have your items shipped to the store for pickup if you like. That being said, for run of the mill menswear items you can find comparable items if you thrift for much cheaper, but for more exotic items this place is nice to visit, especially with deeply discounted sales.
Service:
Pretty spot on, by and large. My first time there I was helped right away and Marion was quite professional and patient with me as it took me a while to decide on which two jackets to purchase. They do have in house tailoring which is a nice choice if you donāt have a tailor, but you could always take it to yours. The head seamstress was also very nice and approachable.
Iāve made several return trips to this location to browse their selection, and it seems pretty steady. Iāve not bought a dress shirt from them but the ones Iāve browsed in my size seem pretty solid. They also have a fun selection of pocket squares. Brett and Lester are also standup gentlemen who will both assist you and engage you in conversation about the industry; Lester even gave me info about a cobbler which is awesome. Unfortunately, I decided to return the first two jackets I bought from here as I wanted to upgrade to camel hair. Thanks to an online sale on their website, I was able to purchase both a pure camel hair sport coat and a pure wool one and instantly fell in love with the camel hair one. Per the return policy on the back of the receipt, the store manager has discretion over returns for items that have been altered. The store manager really came through for me and allowed me return said coats.
Overall:
Iām very pleased with...
