I genuinely love half price. I choose it over barnes and nobles every time. No, it doesnt have the coffee shop but there is a boba place next door. Also! It's actually affordable!! My book girlies listen up: all those books you put back on the shelves cause you can't afford them.. you could buy here! Half price carries everything from new releases to old favorites. They have magazines, dvds, blu ray discs, comics, video games, toys, reading tools like bookmarks, educational books, religious ones, classics, cds, and coloring books. The sections are divided and labelled well. Oh and??? For all the mom's out there: Take the whole family! Make a day of it. It is totally family friendly and there is a whole section of childrens books, toy, and movies. There are also books on sale in the back (often the best finds are there!) They've got Cds for your teens collection (cause they are coming back, trust me) comics and video games for your kid who's super into marvel or star wars + anything in between, and ya novels to peek anyone interest! You dont have alot of money? Cool. No problem. What about that pile of books in the corner? Lets be real, you KNOW you aren't going to get to them. What about those books you read already but you can handle parting with? Sell them!! Take them to half price and get money for them. Take your moms collection of cds that she doesn't want anymore and sell them. Use that money for more books or games or movies. It isnt that big bookstore you could get lost in like B&N. There's dust on ghe shelves and creased in the spines but you walk in and you know that those books have been loved as much as you will love them. And the place carries a nostalgia thats hard to find much less recreate anymore. The vibe is soooo small town bookstore the mc goes to to "get away from it all". And as an avid book reader, isn't it the dream to feel like that main...

I was singled out by security and followed almost the whole time I was there . There was no reason for this and it made me feel really uncomfortable. I was NOT carrying a purse of any kind. I was wearing shorts and a t shirt. To make the guard feel better, I walked to the board game section. Here I spent the next ten minutes, looking at the different kinds of role-playing games they had while I waited it for my name to be called (I was returning books). I found a really cool game I thought my co-workers would like (I digress but some co workers and I play board games before our 2nd shift starts) . I put the game back on the shelf, walk to get my friend and notice the guard follows to. Her and I stop at the game board section, so does the guard... I'm getting REALLY uncomfortable at this point. Even though I know I'm not doing anything wrong it's making my anxiety go up.

Long story short. He followed me until I left the store. My friend paid for her items. I received like $15 for the books I brought in , and we left.

I'm not sure if I want to go back or not. They had some cool things. But I don't like that feeling of being treated like I'm doing something wrong when I'm not.

At least don't make it so noticeable that you're following me for 20...

I went to their site and read what they do .It said they buys books and will make a offer on any book you bring in and paid up to 50% .Right!!! OK I am disabled so I read a lot so I had a lot of books. It's hard for me to go anywhere but because they said they would make a offer on all the book it was worth it to me,I had over 1000 books so I thought even $1.00 a piece would be great .But that's not what I got they worded their site to make you think you would get a great deal. They went through my books took out all the new ones and hard cover books and there were books I had not even read in there (which I brought only because I thought being new never even read before I would get the 50% they got about 20 hard cover books and 200 + books that were new or been read one time and all I got was $90.00 I would never had taken it if it wasn't for the fact that I drove 100 miles to get to the store besides gas to drive there and back I needed the money. They need to re write the site and stop screwing people.I seen the prices on their books and the ones they got from me they will make at least 700.00 or more from them.I will never take my books there again or buy from...

Where I'm from, there aren't any Half Price Books around, so it was a treat to randomly stop by this location while visiting Tacoma and passing through another shop in the strip mall. It's a pretty extensive bookstore with a solid selection, reasonable prices for used books, and even rare finds. What this place has that a lot of bookstores lack is other forms of used media, including retro gaming and music records. Of course, it wouldn't have as much as an actual vinyl or video game store, but I was pleased with what it did have. In their used CD section, I was able to procure a few great finds for solid bands that I enjoy, at a price I wouldn't be able to find elsewhere. The place can be a bit chaotic in terms of organization, but it's easy to navigate. When I'm in the area, I'll definitely return either to this place or other Half Price Book locations.

I've always been in love with this store. However today made it my absolute favorite place to go. I've been searching for a copy of the Princess Bride for almost 20 years. It been incredibly hard to find and I didn't want to pay stupid prices online. Today I came in and the cashier ( Very nice young man ) looked in the system to see if they had a copy. The nice gentleman asked if I'd like to purchase it and I of course said yes. This young man came back with not only an original copy, but one that was brand new and untouched form. It was shook. It seriously made my day. Not only did the nice young man go above and beyond for me, but I was blown away by everything in the store. I HIGHLY recommend you stop by here, for absolutely ANY reason. You don't need one, they have everything!
