On June 25th I went to the ER in Tawas City because I had a good feeling I broke my toe when my boat trailers trailer jack wheel (solid plastic) rolled over my big toe. I went to the ER to see if this was in fact a break or not due to concerns of the location being a joint in my toe. The ER was extremely slow with few patients present, yet the visit took a long time after images were taken of the problem location for anyone to come back to the room. Finally a doctor shows up Meagan Crofoot, Meagan tells me she cant see a break anywhere and suggested I may have a hairline fracture she cant see and follow up imaging may be necessary. Well after leaving I went online and viewed the images myself and thought to myself "Are you kidding me?", there was clearly a piece of my big toe that was not only broken but had chipped off completely. Upon seeing this I immediately called U of M to see a specialist and get a second opinion, and what do you know.... they saw what I saw and gave me the proper diagnosis. Meagan is one of the most unprofessional doctors I have had the displeasure of being seen by, not only because of her inability to see an obvious chipped bone, but the fact she gave me about 1 1/5 to 2 minutes of her time. She came in and immediately found a seat to sit in, she didn't scoot her chair from the door way she came through, she didn't ask questions, she didn't even physically look at the area I had concerns about, and truthfully I am doubting she even looked at the images taken (with the break being so obvious). If I could see the chipped bone with zero medical training other than a CPR class in my life, yet the "Doctor" with years of schooling was unable to see it I believe that is a tangible reason to be concerned. U of M offered treatment options and possibilities while the ER doctor Meagan said she couldn't see anything wrong with it. I have been trying to get ahold of someone with the hospital to file a formal complaint but cant seem to get in contact with anyone. I am frustrated because this was a relatively simple diagnosis and she failed to properly diagnose the issue, causing me to drive over three hours to a specialist. It makes you wonder how many other people have been pushed out the door and told they were fine when they really weren't. Talk about having ZERO confidence in the abilities of your local ER doctors. I have attached a screen shot of the actual image taken at the Tawas City ER to...
Read moreI am new to the area and was having neck and shoulder pain for multiple days. Was going to go to the urgent care, but they are closed on Wednesdays. Decided I’d had my pain long enough that I would go to the emergency room. That was a big mistake! I got checked in and taken back rather quickly, which was surprising for an emergency room, but when Doctor Secord blew through my room, he was there for less than five minutes and I don’t believe he ever made eye contact with me once. Said hello, and asked me when I fell, which I never had fallen. Told him my symptoms and told him it had started with a tender spot on the back of my Head. He barely touched my neck and shoulder, said that I had a muscle pull and a tendon that was popping out. He said it was a sleeping injury, and I told him it started in the late afternoon early evening he shrugged his shoulders, gave me a few pain meds, and walked out the door. Nurses were very nice, but didn’t do a full vitals. Check when I got there my release papers had all the vitals filled out with incorrect numbers or just made up numbers because those vitals were never checked. Still in pain and no change two days later I decided to go to a different urgent care where they did a full work up and listen to me to find out that I had shingles. And the enlarged tendon that he said he felt was actually a swollen lymph node. He treated me for a muscle injury when everything I had was nerve pain. My new doctor said if he would’ve taken the time to look at my scalp where I had said, the pain began he would’ve noticed the blisters starting. Very disappointed I’ve learned now to take the drive and go elsewhere for...
Read moreFrom the moment I called I was taken care of with so much love and kindness. After getting this number from a nurse in the East tawas hospital I called💜 receptionist I spoke to was very gentle, very patient and very kind to me. She helped me understand everything and answered all of my questions as well. And she helped me set up my intake interview. I cannot remember your name my love but you are a angel and a blessing upon my life. Thank you for who you are. Today I spoke with Ben for my intake interview and we was a complete delight. He was very kind, full of joy and compassion. He prepared me every step of the way and explained each step as we went. He answered all of my questions. While asking me questions he was fully invested in listening, and addressed the topics with genuine feedback that was warm, positive, encouraging and professional. Thank you so much for sharing laughter with me and guiding me through this time. Thank you for showing tenderness as well. Thank you both for who you are. Because of my experience with you I have a pretty good feeling that the Dr I have is going to touch my heart as well. With all the love I have inside my heart I pray blessing upon you all.
