If our experience with a simple out patient procedure is any indication of the hospital as a whole, then please drive me to another hospital if I need to go...Dr. Mark Gallagher, DO must be one of the worst doctors when it comes to bedside manner and his billing methodology is suspect: If you like not meeting your doctor until 5 minutes before your procedure, then this is the office for you. Be prepared for a brusque, rushed egotistical doctor who seems too busy to spend a moment's time with you prior to the procedure (yes, those 5 minutes are all the time this guy appears to want to spend with you). He has his associates do the intake--which is about 20 minutes and then on the day of the procedure, you are laying about waiting to meet the person who is performing the procedure and he breezes in just before it happens--after you've been somewhat sedated. Good time for answering questions of the doctor (not). Then, be prepared for after the procedure for him to come out to the center of the waiting room and announced WHY YOUR HUSBAND'S PROCEDURE TOOK SO LONG. IT'S BECAUSE HE HAS A LOT OF FECAL MATERIAL IN HIS COLON AND IBS. THAT'S WHY. SEE! HERE ARE THE PICTURES! As he waves them in front of your face in front of other people. Hate to tell you this, 'doctor,' but my husband is a surgical nurse and the amount of material in the photos you so unceremoniously and publicly waved in my face is NORMAL for that type of procedure--that's why you, the 'doctor' and support staff have irrigators to assist in clearing it out. To announce this information in a lobby -- not taking me into a private consult room is a huge violation of my/my husband's privacy and totally unethical on your part. Also, 'doctor,' my husband went into the office for a PREVENTIVE service, not a DIAGNOSTIC. He was asymptomatic and went in for a preventive check. The fact that you found and removed polyps is secondary to the reason he went in. It should be billed as preventive with a surgical removal of polyps. The fact that you denied your public humilation of me and my husband to my insurance company is proof positive that you should be reprimanded. You lied to my insurance company. I definitely will be taking this further. Straighten up, 'doctor.' You need to give us an apology and correct your...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible. Went to the ER because I had been running a fever the past couple days. My temp has gotten to 104°F, so I needed an emergency check-up. It took over 45 minutes to be seen by a nurse, which wasnt too bad. I expressed to the first nurse that saw me that my fever had reached dangerous highs, and I wanted to get tested for Influenza or Covid. The nurse asked me basic questions, checked by blood pressure, and said the doctor would come in soon for the flu and covid tests. He also mentioned that if I had the flu or covid, they'd perscribe me antibiotics. Over an HOUR goes by, and a doctor finally comes in. Right off the bat, he was rude to me. Interrupting, cutting me off, rushing me to finish talking. He didn't even check my temperature ONCE. No one did. Instead, he asked me if I had any previous medical issues. Which I do, I have Esophagitis. I've had it for YEARS. So, instead of checking me for ANY of the sicknesses I was worried about, he checked for for strep throat. Which I never once mentioned, or had ANY throat symptoms for. He then left for OVER AN HOUR again, leaving me with a rising fever and horrible migraine. The next time I saw him, he briefly popped his head into the room to tell me that 'I didn't have strep throat, and he was getting my release papers'. He just... completely forgot about EVERYTHING ELSE I said was wrong with me at the time. Almost 50 more minutes pass, and a different nurse comes in with the papers. We ask if there's anything else that can be done for me, and she leaves to ask the doctor. She returns a few minutes later with no results. In conclusion, I spent over 4 and a half hours waiting for NOTHING. The doctor that saw me was rude, rushing, and inconsiderate. I had no real help medication, nothing. If I had easier access to other emergency rooms, I'd never go to that awful place again. Not even the first time I've had a bad...
Read moreAt roughly 6:30PM - 7:00PM this evening, while waiting out in the car following a visit with a loved one under Ascension's care, I was accosted by the security officer in the parking lot.
He came to my window, arms flared outward, asking "What are we doing?" No greeting, no identification, just "What are we doing?"
Despite my stating "I'm just taking a break after a visit," he proceeded to state "Yeah, sure, but there's no low-ter-ing" (I believe he was attempting to pronounce "loitering."
I again stated that I hadn't been in my car long and that I was visiting a loved one, which was met with "there's walmart or McDonald's you can go to, not here; move it along" I hadn't even been sitting there for 5 minutes.
I even attempted to show my driver's license to show that I quite literally live just minutes from the location. To which he responded, "Look, I didn't say you were homeless; I just said there's no [low-ter-ing] in my parking lot."
I was in a parking space right under a parking lot light, clearly illuminated, simply sitting in my car and my car wasn't remotely near any emergency entrances, exits, or in any way inhibiting entrance or egress from the parking lot or its buildings.
Given he had what looked like a firearm on his hip, I simply stated "Loud and clear," and left immediately.
And it was "loud and clear." Loud and clear that there's no thought for caregivers, family members, or others who are there for their friends...
