US Foods CHEF'STORE — Local services in Tempe

I was on my way to the store next door and saw this place so I thought I would check it out. I walked in and glanced around, saw that for most things the price per unit or price per weight is actually higher than other stores such as walmart or Fry's and decided to leave. Upon trying to exit I was confronted by an employee who claimed she "needed" to search my bag. I objected as they have no more right to search my belongings than I have to search theirs, so I said no and left. I then walked next door to a clothing store where I noticed that their security guard had followed me and was telling the security of the clothing store that I was some kind of thief because I wouldn't let them trample my rights. He then proceeded to stand on the other side of a clothing rack the entire time I was in the store, staring at me like a 12 year old boy spying on girls. It made me so uncomfortable that I had to leave the store where I encountered another security guard hiding behind a column staring at me. He proceeded to leer at me until I finally walked around another building. Their over zealous security made me feel so unsafe that I will never go back to that entire shopping center. They need to realize that just because I had a bag with me when I entered does not make me a thief. They sell bulk items. What did they think I was doing, smuggling out an entire 10 pound box of cereal in my tiny little bag?...

Honestly, I was really excited about coming here since it was my very first time. I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. For one, the price that is listed on the shelf is NOT the true price. They literally charge you tax on every individual item itself, then on top state/ city tax ( which that makes sense) but REALLY, tax on each individual item is crazy! Especially when they advertise it at a cheaper price but then it comes out a total different number on your receipt. What a SCAM.

No one asked if I had an account with them (apparently that’s how you get the “true price”) but also NO ONE even offered if I wanted to create one.

ON TOP OF ALL OF THIS, you cannot refund anything (that’s what one of the lady’s told me). What kind of business is this. I should’ve just gone to shamrock (where I usually go, I just wanted to try something different) That’s what I get for wanting to try new things I guess.. ugh I would give them a 0 star rating.

SAVE TOUR TIME AND MONEY AND GO TO SHAMROCK.

To purchase here you'll need to sign up for their free membership card. They asked for my name, address, and telephone, nothing crazy there. This store is huge, a friend and I slowly walked up and down every aisle for an hour and a half taking in all the awesome deals they have.

I would say pricing on fresh veg and meat is comparable to Costco, and overall produce quality was looked good. The real savings are to be found in the case-priced frozen foods. A case of duck legs for under $2 a pound? 20 ready-made 16" frozen pizza crusts for $24? Yes please! (I hope you have a large freezer!)

Definitely go and spend at least an hour here on your first visit, look around and find the deals that fit into your buying habits. You only have to sign up if you want to purchase something. All the staff were nice, and seemed...
