After renting a walk behind saw and then the largest breaker jack hammer I was back to rent the compact mini excavator.
I told the associate that was going over the machine pre-rental that the chain ratchets hadn't been working right in a long time as one end on each ratchet was frozen and that I would make sure it was properly secured for my short trip, but that it should be taken care of by simply replacing the aged chain ratchets.
She immediately said that she would not be able to rent me the machine. I said it's Sunday and I have a job site with guys waiting for this machine. The local rental shops are not open I would provide the exact same chain radgets brand new And ask permission from the manager to continue with the rental ...which she agreed.
After buying a brand new set of Is same exact chain ratchets.. And properly securing the excavator to the trailer. I asked to speak to the manager. (Lewis)
I explained my situation and demonstrated that the new chain ratchets we're installed and operating perfectly. I just wanted to get on with the day and even said that they could keep the ratchets.
When he told me I could not rent the machine because they "already noticed something wrong with the equipment and thereforecouldn't rent it".. and " HD didn't own the machine's and were not allowed to modify them". I knew I wasn't dealing with a reasonable company policy!? I explained again that I pointed out what had been broken for probably months for the safety of others. ...anyway.
The best they could do was give me an address of a home depot about 30 miles away. After driving there for an hour down country roads I found a larger excavator with an 18" bucket. Not the compact mini with a 12" This was unacceptable And frustrating to say the least.
The job was shut down and it was saved by Aide rental when they opened on Monday. Their compact mini had a 8" bucket.. which was perfct!
I recently had a terrible experience trying to return a faulty dwelt battery at home depot that I just bought as part of a drill driver / combo kit. Mind you the battery failed in 6 weeks instead of less than 4?
Anyhow. don't expect any more home depot reviews from me I will stick with Lowe's and Menards from now on. With service like this (especially for excelemt and regular customers) they just as well not exist exist in my mind. I can't afford it. The time or the money.
I'd almost give them a pass and say that their hands were really tied by the agreement with the rental company, but when I was on line looking to contact the rental company it's contact information went directly to home depot.... who had purchased the company for 265 million 5 years ago. Meaning home depot does own the rental equipment, but still uses this excuse to avoid having to think and treat others like human beings.
Just say no to Home Depot. Shop local...
ย ย ย Read moreWent to Home Depot. Dealt with the manager Candice, Javier, and the cashier Ellen. Made a ourchase and ellen bypassed the email screen to rush me out. I refused until she corrected my purchase and got my email reciept. She told me I could return the items at customer service and "try again". She swore up and down she couldnt do it. Javier came out from behind the counter and tried to pull away cart, kick me out of the store, and finally since he was close enough told me if I didnt like his way, we could "go outside" and proceeded to the door while removing his little smock. Once he realized I was still standing with the adults he returned to his workstation and pretended to not be involved, after which all of a sudden I was given the option for my email receipt and transaction was completed properly. Only once a store employee (Javier) crossed the line with a customer, did anyone in the store make anything right. On a order they (Ellen,Javier and Candice) said was being cancelled and I wasnt getting. Very humiliating having other grown adults act this way in a store on account of their own negligence. Can't see myself using their store in the future while those 3 are employed there. Its unfortunate. Id shop there 3 or 4 times a week and showed that to Candice too. They took a calm situation and made it what it was because they refuse to do their jobs and said they couldn't at at the end...
ย ย ย Read moreI went to rent a shampooer with the use of my 85 year old mother's card with her PRO account. While I understand that the name on the card must match the driver's license, having a PRO account allows others to use your card without the card holder being present.
There was a young Hispanic woman & and an older Black man who worked in the tool rental area who chose not to investigate the status of my mother's PRO account & refused rental. They called the manager who didn't inquire about the account even though I stated numerous times that I rented tools in the past few years on the account.
I left the store and my mother called to speak to the same people who were rude to her and claimed that they didn't know that she had a PRO account. She asked to speak to the manager and they HUNG UP the phone!
No worries, we went to Menards and rented the machine. We took our business elsewhere and will continue to do so when people who choose not...
